Gaming Channel: What do you need to start?

Another thing, when you finish recording gameplay or whatever. PLAY BACK THE RECORDING.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen gaming channels(particularly small ones like mine) record a game and not even check to make sure the quality is good or the video doesn't lag too much and just uploads it willy-nilly.

Also, EDIT. Cut out parts that aren't needed and/or not useful to the video. It makes the video much smoother and shows people you're dedicated to bringing cut, clean videos for everyone to watch.

That's what I'm lacking. The edit. xD I just don't know what to cut and what to spare. xD I learned my errors the hard way. It's a bug from Vegas Pro that makes your video goes black screen for like a minute or two without a freaking reason.>.> It's been seen for some of my vids.

That bug is in Movie Studio as well. Sometimes it does it after the render process even, so I think the video is fine, then I upload it and someone comments that there's a blackout for a couple of minutes. I too need to start working with editing though. I just find it very time consuming and I'm not trying to spend 2 hours editing a 30 minute video. But I should.

It should be fixed. It's been there since Vegas Pro 11.0.:/

You can playback the video before rendering. I think if you did that, it'd stop the black screen. I'm still not sure though, I think the last time I got it was few weeks ago but before that, the last time I got a black screen was September 2012.

That's usually how I find the bug in the first place...I'll be watching the preview and the screen will go black, usually at the beginning of the clip. Usually I'm not a lazy butt and fix it, but sometimes I don't. I've found that removing and reinserting the clip usually fixes it, but it can be annoying if I did any editing with that particular clip.

Great list! That'll really help beginners! Maybe you should add what they need if they plan on recording console gameplay :p

I was just about to state that ;).

I record against the PS3 and the additional item I needed was a PVR, I bought the Elgato which is a excellent piece of software (installs on your PC) and hardware (hooks up to your TV, PC and PS3).

Now the tricky bit, if you have a headset like mine (TurtleBeach PX21) then you will also need to buy a component cable (PS3 Component AV Cable). Also, I need a separate microphone to record live comms, I end up looking like a cyborg but cannot find a better way to communicate with my team as well as record my voice :(.

I really have no idea about console recording. :(

So you need to have 2 headsets?
