Freedom! vs Curse: Union For Gamers

And I totally admit to being a Freedom detractor. That's my primary failing in this debate as I don't and can't trust George given his history. So my view on some of these things is likely colored in that direction. There are 4 networks that I push everyone away from wherever possible. BBTV, Freedom, Awesomeness and Quizgroup.

Since you rule those four out, who would you suggest instead? Some people around here seem to prefer Fullscreen, and generally don't like Curse via Maker Studios based on what they've said in this thread. What criteria do you look at when deciding to join a network, and what turns you off about those four mentioned above? Curse also offers a no lock-in contract, just like Freedom! The difference between them is that Freedom! offers a stack of perks along with a 60/40 revshare versus gamer related ads on Union For Gamers (Curse) and a 90/10 revshare - plus the potential to be promoted on one of their websites (Minecraft Forums in my case).

Curse isn't with Maker anymore. They're their own MCN now.

At the end of the day, there are two primary factors in partnering as I see it. Revenue share and term. Network partnership is, above all else a financial arrangement. This nonsense about growth is merely an aside which is why you won't find anything about growth in the network contracts. If growth was truely a major focus, there would be guarantees about SEO management and other such material in those same contracts.

There is a good list of MCN's and the various sub-networks at the top of this section which should help with the research. Fullscreen, Curse, Maker, Zoomin, Creative Nation, Forela, Big Frame, Collective, all fairly reputable, though CN and Forela are the younger of the bunch. There were some concerns about Maker Studios back when Ray William Johnson left as his contract issues became public, but most people weren't as integrated into Maker and didn't have those same issues. Curse has very little for features but it's hard to argue with a 90/10 month to month contract for parking a channel until you're big enough to get a proper custom contract. And as Sebas mentioned, it is possible for a sub-network to provide better support than the main MCN though this is usually simply because the VN has fewer partners and thus more time to handle each individual inquiry. The feature sets will be nearly identical in most cases.

My personal video game channel is parked with Curse for exactly the reason I mentioned above. I would be wary about choosing Curse for potential website promotion though as it is very rare.

Well I'm with Curse and they have a really good partner support it takes them an hour or 2 to reply and sometimes Curse will give you beta keys for free and but ya it's up to you and just to let you know your channel has to be 80% gaming to be partnered with Curse.

I'm with Zoomin right now, but my contract expires tomorrow (hopefully). Had some bad experiences with a VN tied to them, and their owner is on the Zoomin staff, so I really don't want to continue with Zoomin. My channel is probably 90-95% gaming. I have over 100 Minecraft-related reviews plus an assortment of other stuff as well.

You also forgot that the rev-share on Freedom! and any of its VN's can grow. It says on the site up to 110% (I'm not sure how that works out) but I do know a Youtuber with a 90% rev-share with Freedom!. If you decide to join a VN and you want to switch to Freedom! or a different VN, you can do that without reapplying. *personal Freedom experience*

i find it interesting what you guys are saying about the channel but i haven't had any personal expereince with any partners but im thinking of joing freedom because it seems to be getting better

I really don't like freedom anymore they made me a manage partner on YouTube and put me back to affiliate partner and it was not just me it was a lot of people in freedom also the reason that people are still in freedom is because there is no lock-in contract and I never seen a network like freedom to break so many promises to freedom partners.

This is the first real negative opinion I've seen on Freedom!. Color me very intrigued. I'd love to hear more.
