Focusing on a DSLR camera

Basically everytime I try to record myself with my Canon EOS Rebel T3i, I can't seem to focus on my face, because the camera lens is out of reach. How do you guys do this? And has anyone else had this problem?
Does that model not have a swivel screen?

Can you not adjust it from that?

I'm planning on getting a 600d it has a swivel screen but now I'm worried ill have the same problem as you

You just need to get used to DSLR camera's cuz you'll encounter problems. So if you're willing to put time and effort in your videos, I'm sure a DSLR camera is the best choice. And personally I think the 600d is great.

You use a stand in for focusing and it's not bad. So you take an object, place it at the same distance you will stand infront of the camera. Operate the camera and manually focus in, then record and stand where the object was.
