Focusing on a DSLR camera

Basically everytime I try to record myself with my Canon EOS Rebel T3i, I can't seem to focus on my face, because the camera lens is out of reach. How do you guys do this? And has anyone else had this problem?

connect it to your pc.... and make your focus points.. plus you can control it better :p The extra screen was a worthless improvement on the camera for filming xD

I'm assuming you are using a placeholder to manually focus? Set your aperture over 3.5 and it shouldn't be blurry even if your manual focus isn't dead on. Set it to 8+ and you can change focal lengths and should be ok too.

I use an external monitor, but my lens is long enough/wide enough so I can actually manually focus by reaching out.

The last solution is to install the software and hardware that allows you to manually change the focus on an app via ipad or laptop.

That could work! Thanks, I'm gonna try it out.

ye, its crap for filming ( to small, and you dont see if its focused or not) but with a PC screen as a monitor, everything is all good. :)
I honestly have never used a camera with one because our DSLR doesn't have it. However I think it would be a great addition, especially when your putting the camera in weird positions and you need to see the screen. I do agree with you though, an external monitor is always a good thing to have.

On the a small screen.. Even unfocused looks epic.. but you need to think.. we dont whatch things on such small screens.. i think the best thing to do is get an external monitor phone size or bigger ( i use a 22 inch PC screen :p
