First Dislike

I got my first dislike on my first video - and I keep getting dislikes all the time. Ussually the ratio is vastly more likes than dislikes... A part from one video where I dissed Vladimir Putin - it got down voted to hell by angry Russians... my fault for posting the video in the Russia subreddit really.

Now this the part of the YouTube experience which never makes sense; you can 'like' a video for positives vibes you receive from it. But when people 'dislike' a video just because of a difference of opinion, this never makes any sense!

I've 'liked' many videos and opinion pieces where I disagreed with the person, but their points were well made all the same. ;)
 
Sooner or later you find someone who doesn't like you content. I don't mind as long as there are not too many of dislikes. I got my first dislike on my first video, but this video was also the most successful one with the most likes I received so I didn't bother too much :)
 
First dislike was on my second video & now i've recently got more but I know who mine is from lol
so it didn't upset me either, infact it baffles me on why these people would bother watching my stuff when they clearly hate me haha

& if anything they are just trolls who are bored so why should it bother anyone really ><

It made me smile amazingly, I thought it would upset me but honestly if someone out there watched our video and felt strong enough to do something about it then that's awesome to me. Me, exactly. I laugh every time I get a dislike. It's just so silly.
 
If you put it on reddit you WILL get dislikes. Pretty much a given. However, if the video is good, there should be a healthy balance though. Some people from reddit will come to your video and then maybe feel like having been lured into it (or genuinely dislike it). So don't worry about it too much - unless it's a really bad like/dislike ratio. Even then it might just be controversial content. So if that becomes the case, maybe take it as a sign to investigate what might have caused it but dislikes happen. you can't please everyone.

Yeah I agree. Reddit seems to be one of the best places for traffic but it can be really volatile at the same time. Right now it's sitting at 3-1 so 3 out of 4 people liked it, which makes me happy! I'd always prefer people who didn't like it to explain in a reasonable way why they didn't so I know if it's something that can be improved or worked on however if they just don't like something, that's perfectly fine as well, I don't like everything so can't expect everyone to like everything I do!

I really like your way of thinking! I literally had this same exact reaction upon receiving my first dislike lol. I also thought it may bug me to a certain extent but I was just happy that they were interacting with the video and the world didn't end after getting my first dislike so it was a win/win all around that day lol.

How long were you guys into your YouTube Journey before getting your first dislike?
