Extremely interesting situation I'm in - an offer to YouTube full time

what they've basically done is block you from working with the competition.

That's exactly how I see it too. They basically want to get some exposure on YT but have no skills to do it. So they want OP to do it for them but to only promote their products. The viewers will hate it because the content will be like watching 5 minute ads and all comments and questions about competing products will be censored. Honestly the channel would be like watching a shopping channel (but only plugging one brand).

OP's personal channel would also suffer (and not benefit) because he would be accused of "selling out" and of no longer being a credible source of independent advice.

When corporate suits start trying to use social media but using corporate methods, it nearly always ends up with cringeworthy results.

Allow me to explain clearer, so I will be fully employed by them

The moment that contract is signed, you become their employee having to report to them. The best thing about doing YT fulltime is the freedom and you wouldn't have any of that.

Think about why they have contacted you. They have obviously seen a lot of potential. They need you more than you need them. Don't let their corporate clout impress you. It's worth next to nothing on YouTube without all the other necessary skills (that they don't have) to grow a channel. Good luck. :)

In any case i would agree with a poster above you need to take that to a lawyer that is familiar with youtube (maybe reach to other big youtubers to ask who they use).

Seems to me that it would probably if not outright kill then damage your channel. Which as long as you are getting paid a full wage i am guessing you are ok with. Problem is they can drop you at any time and then it would be hard to recover for you.

It all depends on what you want to do. Still should look at the contract with a professional (the take 20% of your channel's earnings sounds like bs).

(I have no big channel and i have no idea how things work this is just general advice btw).

Being a product ambassador requires sacrifices. You need to be really sure, 100% sure that you're willing to stand for their products and no other, in your case I don't think this will work well at all as it sounds like you feature a lot of different brands of products on your current channel. I personally wouldn't do it, if you're at 10k-15k subs with a good community at only around 1yr, I think you're already on the road to a full time YouTube career without having to sign your soul over to sponsors.

Will they be paying you a salary to build this channel for them or will you be working for free and only getting paid a % of an already small cut from the ads off the video? Are you able to make this channel on an account separate (i.e. different email) from yours to ensure they can't touch your current 1? I'd consider it, but don't rush into any decision.

As Crown said, YouTube means being your own boss, regardless of what ANYONE says, at the end of the day the same principles that apply to a business will almost always apply to a YouTube channel, you already have your own business even if you don't want to treat it like 1, don't do anything to risk "selling" it, not until you're ready to risk losing it, if so. As I said you're already on the road to great success now that you've broken the 10k barrier something that many creators still have yet to break even after a few years.

Very cool opportunity but I would think about the deal and mainly if you support all their product fully! because if you're channel is growing by it's own do you really need them to give you all these rules and restrictions on a new channel.

Plus what would you do if they want you to promote a certain item that you don't actually like? would you do it for the money or would you be brave enough to do something about it? How does that effect your accountability as someone who other people look upto?

This is just something to think about but this is off course a very cool, cool deal! A once in a lifetime thing... and maybe there will be more opportunities after this start!

When you receive the contract, look it over, don't sign anything. Pay for a lawyer to look it over, tell him/her your concerns, then he/she will re-write the contract and also make sure you aren't getting screwed. Then present the new contract to the person letting them know that your lawyer made some corrections, additions, etc. Then go back and forth until you get something that you can both agree on.

Don't get screwed - pay for a lawyer.

Hi Guys thanks for your advice, so the contract came through it was completely fine, it was a standard contract just like any job, the only thing in the contract around my youtube channel was I can only mention their hair products, honestly I get 1 comment out of 100 on my videos asking what product is it?+I dont even have to say their product. The contract was like any normal contract and I looked over it with my parent who is a vice president for a company. The company and I discussed a few things and I stated I'm not doing anything I dont want to as my channel is my channel they won't ever have any control. Thanks for your advice!

Sounds shady AF

A...F... Just wanted to repeat that... Don't do it... Buisnessmen are shady people, and once they start taking revenue from your personal channel it just doesn't sound right.

BUUUUUT... You know the show "Face Off"? I believe contestants have to pay a percentage of their income after the show has aired because they in fact got free advertising.
