Editing and recoring software?

Thanks for hinting pirating. -_-. Ahem, *but you know, google is a thing*.

I didn't actually pirate mine, but for people that arn't lucky enough to have an uncle that owns a graphic design company, some people might have to go through illegal ways of getting the software

Make a reasonably priced version of that software then. Simple.

Usually the software *is* reasonably priced. The costs to develop some software is astronomical, especially with specialist software such as video editing. You have many things such as legal fees, licensing of third party APIs and of course paying the wages of everyone involved. That little list is simplifying it a bit, there are multitudes of other costs as well! My company sells a recently developed piece of specialist software for £20,000. In all likeliness you will never be using anything quite that specialist but you can see where some of the costs originate.

The price is set based on how many people are buying it, video editing isn't as popular as - say - a major blockbuster game, and so they need to set the price higher to recuperate the costs of actually making it.

It's a bit different in the case of Photoshop and other adobe products, If they had a noncommercial version for say 100 dollars, they might gain customers who otherwise would pirate it because 600 is a bit ridiculous for what they'll use it for.
