Does My Channel Suck?

Hey guys,

Kyle here from The Party Chat Society. I've done 31 (soon to be 32) videos since February. I have a total of 1,383 views, and 4,206 minutes watched. I believe my most viewed video is sitting at 175 views. Am I doing something wrong? I genuinely believe I've been producing good content but it seems I can never get the name out there. I run a Facebook page and every so often I pay $5 to promote my video in order to get more people to at least see that my content is there.

I've upgraded my equipment, I now use a Blue Snowball mic to record all audio, I've been using a Canon HF R600 camera to record video. It just seems like I've put so much time and money into something that people either can't see, or just sucks. Everytime I post a video I get anxiety, as in, I always get the rush of thoughts 'What if this sucks and people just don't care?". So I'm always hesitant to post a video but the only way to get views is to obviously have content.

I currently use Hitfilm3 Express to edit my videos with no prior knowledge in film. It's just something I find fun, but it seems sometimes that it's a waste of time.

So anyway, long story short. I'd like to know if my channel is bad, or I'm doing something wrong, or what. Thank you in advanced, I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.[DOUBLEPOST=1463849819,1463849741][/DOUBLEPOST]And of course, I don't plan on becoming a superstar and having a million views. I don't know, I've just hit a wall of frustration and such. Ahhhghg I'll stop typing

Youtube is a lot harder now. Less people are subbing to channels and just following them. I'm always of the belief that if you have more views than you have subs, you are doing something right.

Thank you for the comment. Yeah it's definitely a lot harder to start a channel than it would have been 4 years ago. I definitely have more views than Subscribers, so that's a plus I guess!

Yeah I get the same feeling too! It's very frustrating, but I think it's also a learning experience. I don't think your channel sucks - I feel like now that you're in the habit of creating videos and have all the basics covered, it's time to actually focus on the smaller logistics ie. Traffic, promotion, SEO, etc. This is where it becomes a business game because you're going to want to find ways to advertise your channel that are effective. And if something isn't (ie. did the $5 investment pay-off in views or subs? If not, maybe find an alternative method!), then find something else that might work! You have great branding, camera, mic, etc. but that's only half the battle! Maybe make a focus on talking about current things that are trending so use Google Trends to see what the hot topics are for your channel and don't be afraid to adapt!

Also I feel like that anxiety never goes away lmao, even sitting here and looking at my channel I'm like cringing thinking about what other people are thinking, but as long as you're confident in what you produce, then I think you have a great channel! :)

Thank you very much for commenting. I'll definitely look into more promotion, It seems like the Facebook think is showing people that my channel is there, but not that people are actually clicking it. I'll look into Google trends, thank you again!

To be 100% honest your content isn't all that great.

Your intro is generic text which is a big turn off nowadays.

The few people that get away with it are when those intros were still sort of fresh and they are now just a staple of their channel.

Your levels of music to voice are very off and seem to fluctuate between each video.

Sometimes the music is too loud

sometimes everything is too quiet.

Your camera quality is okay but it's nothing special.

I'd say work on getting an intro that is perfect for you and not something generic for a start as that is the first thing people see.

Thank you for your input. It's weird, sometimes when I play the video on my computer everything seems to loud so I turn it down. But after uploading if you watch it on mobile you can barely hear it. I'll definitely look into it.

As for the intro, Im unsure what to do about it. Sometimes I feel like it shouldn't be there at all.

For camera quality I'm thinking my next step is to buy a lamp of some sort to make the lighting higher.

Again, thank you for your input. I'll have to work on sound quality and hope I can improve on it.

A few things that I always notice with gaming channels is that there is a lot of competition, you really want to stand out when it comes to content, thumbnails, etc. Consider creating some standing out thumbnails to attract viewers.

Also I noticed that your video with the highest views is one of your shortest videos. A lot of YouTube viewers these days don't like watching really long videos unless they really really enjoy watching you. I know this will be a lot of work, but try editing your videos and only keep the best highlights of those videos.

I watched your unboxing video and the what console you should collect video and I think you should invest in a dslr and a mic if you are going to continue doing videos like those. A good quality video is always better than 50 low quality videos.

I would suggest spicing up the background a tad, I watched your Uncharted 4 unboxing, I enjoyed it but the background threw me off.
Maybe film in a brighter space or somewhere that looks a tad more professional. But then I'm new to YouTube so don't take my word for it. :pompus:
