I think the only part of your location that matters in terms of who you get promoted to is your country. At least, I hope so, since I live in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere...

The reason he moved around is to help him maybe do collabs or work with other partners on side projects. Living in a specific city has nothing to do with increasing your views. The only benefit of living in a big city would maybe be for vlog purposes there's more things to show people I guess.

Yeah, I feel like if it had any effect than youtube would advertise it like: This youtuber lives in the same city as you! There's not much point in showing local content if they don't know its local.
