Does anyone else accept the fact that their content is bad ?

I think that regardless of the quality of someone's video they should be humbled that people are even watching it. Even if you're the most entertaining person ever and you upload in 1440p, etc., if you're humble it makes all the difference. I think a good example is theRadBrad - he's already become one of the most famous gaming let's players out there, but practically every video he starts and ends off saying how appreciative he is for the support and that kinda thing.
And at the same time you have to be proud of your work, because why would you share something if even you, the creator, think it's s**t. So you have to find the balance between being proud and feeling accomplished and being humbled by other people's appreciation for it.
 
I kinda understand what your saying here. Due to hardware limitations I can only make slide shows with audio in the background (with the exceptions of Drugs, Fear, and next vid in that series i'm working on) I really don't like these slideshow videos but I just try to make the best of what I have :). I think an important thing to do though is constantly improve yourself, and your videos. Your videos should never really reach "perfection" since perfection is a constantly moving goal post for most people when it comes to making youtube vids.

I'm just struggling to understand the mind sets of a lot of youtuber's these days, or maybe it's just people in general. Everyone is full of confidence whether it is called for or not. Do you want to know how the best way to grow is ? It's to admit that your videos are bad. For instance my videos are terrible in so many ways. People tell me other wise and I actually get told things like 'You must put so much time into editing' 'Your editing is sick' but still I know it's bad and I know it needs work.

Basically I really want to tell people to stop thinking they are actually great and start being more humble to themselves so maybe, just maybe they might actually start to focus on how to improve and not just question why they are struggling to get views and subs.

Obviously there are other things that help get your content out there (before anyone says that) but seriously stop rushing to grow that quickly. You have this perfect time to actually hone your skills and quality of your content, also try new things out. Once you have a big viewer base you wont have time for that, You will just have people asking you where the next video is.

Just something for people to ponder on and question themselves about.

I actually have a really low opinion of my own channel :P My first videos were terrible lyric videos that I made in Windows Movie Maker. Well...I started making actual videos when I got the equipment, and there is noooooooooo doubt that my channel can be improved. I think my videos look very home made. I don't feel there's much I can do about it. I have a crappy digital camera (don't even have a tripod) and I have one very old flood light (that I'm thankful to own). But....still I enjoy making videos regardless. People tell me they really like my stuff, so I guess that makes me feel a little better. Could I do better if I had better? Probably.......but there are things I like about my videos too. Like, I feel I lip sing pretty good, and capture the right facial expressions for the most part (trying to get better at that every time).
 
lol, I know my content is dumb. I always upload a video and think "this is the one where I am going to get destroyed" and it doesn't happen. I get told "great quality!" "you are so funny, mate!" and "I wish I was as good as you..." and people just always say nice things, which is just unhelpful... I prefer the people who say "this sucked!" or "you obviously didn't work hard enough on this video" because it gives me a reason to do better. Saying I'm the funniest gamer you've seen is flattering, but I'd prefer the brutally honest people that nitpick.

I feel like you are almost talking to me, @TheBatteryChicken, I enjoy reading your stuff because you are honest.

Actually, I'm quite happy with my content at the moment! Speaking purely about the individual quality, not the channel-content per se, as I'd like to see more diversity... In the early days I promised myself I'd never rely on Let's Play's to draw my audience, because A) It feels too easy, and B) If your audience comes for the game, they're not there for you, hence you'll lose more viewers than you gain as you go on... But the lure of the Let's Play has been lurking, and sometimes I am tempted to try and record one...

Good thing I suck at playing games and talking at the same time!

Well just set a standard for yourself. Go have a look at Chuggaaconroy and how much work he puts into each video he makes, its amazing.

This is far from aimed at you, It's really aimed at all the people who post on here that claim their content is already the best it can be and then complain as to why they can't get vies or subscribers. To anyone that can see flaws in their own content, this whole statement doesn't really apply to them. I had just seen so many posting on the forums recently asking how to get views and promote and they will literally state in their posts that their content is already great and they honestly think there is nothing wrong.
 
My work isn't bad. It's just not great :) My main focus is to improve my English - then the videos will follow :)
 
No, I will never accept my content is bad. Because my content is the best I can do with the resources I have. I accept that I do not have the same view count as most of the vloggers I follow, but I will never say my stuff is bad.

To say your stuff is bad is pretty much saying that you can do better... Strive for excellence. Don't force it. If you don't feel like editing and uploading don't. If you are not 100% committed to the video you are editing it will show. I was editing a video yesterday night. I was almost done, but then I felt I wanted to take a break and watch a show. So I did. Your channel will be there tomorrow. Sure, you'll miss some views, maybe even loose a subscriber due to inactivity. But you didn't want that subscriber anyway. You want the ones that support you, and comment on your stuff.
 
I always strive to make the best content possible for me at the given moment, and I won't release a video until I'm satisfied with it. This can take some time, but then I just release a different video first.
