Do you outline your videos?

I've Got It
When I do youtube videos I end up writing a one liner that helps me remember the concept of the video I want to make then I try to complete that idea with "filler stories". How exactly do you do it or do you freeball it and do it all off the top of your head.
 
I'm somewhat forced to because I need to pull up facts and what not. Then I out line it, sometimes make a script, and just record in as few takes as possible.
 
I have a note app on my phone where I keep all of my ideas. Depending on the topic sometimes I'll jot down some things I want to say. But other than that, there's all freeball.
 
I sometimes have a few bullet points that I just expand on but if I know the topic well enough I just freeball it :).
 
I freeball. I also ramble. Usually if I do something like a news video I would write a script straight out, but I learned that it's ONE: Its a time waster. I would spend about two to three hours just writing the script.
TWO: It makes you sound like a stammering moron. It's been proven that if you read from a script, much like narrating, you tend to roll over your words and stammer and studder.

Outlines? Greatness. Scripts? Unless you're a great narrator, scripts for something like a news video is going to usually be a bust.

I think about what the video is going to say/show and how I will work through to that end.

This usually occurs for several days prior to shooting - I mentally rework the same idea over and over to get the best flow/message.

I then break the video into separate components (clips).

I then film each clip, check the flow into adjoining clips , and if necessary re-shoot anything not up to par visually or commentary wise.

I then edit and stitch them together at the end.

I only use a script sheet/board for technical facts.
 
For the most part, I plan it out in my head. But if I need to remember specific names, I have to write them down off camera. (ie, the names of cars in the video)
 
i am all about the script writing life. I tend to ramble so it really helps. the funniest jokes are the concise jokes. even though improvising while shooting can be fun too and make it more authentic!
 
For my vlogs, I tend to put a list on my phone of points that I want to hit. I reference this while filming and then just edit it out. :p
