DO NOT JOIN Maker Studios (RPM Networks, ParaMaker, TGS) READ THIS TO KNOW WHY!

I just edited my original post to add the accounts of another user in regards to mistreatment from Maker Studios. Sadly, this website does not allow inclusion of links so I cannot post the link of the source. Please do a web search with parts of the quoted text if you want to know. Thanks.

If you paste links and then break the link with that little icon that looks like a broken link and then erase the http://www part, you can post the "link" and then people can just copy and paste the link into their browser. Hope that helps.

Thank you, yes, that was helpful. Let me try now. Thanks!

PS. I tried and it worked. Thanks a bunch again :) Much appreciated!

Hey everyone, I'm BarackObeezy, the guy who penned that lengthy article about Maker on my blog.

I'll spare the conflict that may or may not have subsided to give a bit of commentary on my part.

Also, note that after you leave any network, they may still be able to claim YOUR videos as theirs, because when you accept to join their CMS, they basically have all your videos linked to their account as if they owned them. This means that even after you leave, they retain the "ownership" in the CMS, so they can still put their ads on your videos and take all your money.

I think you might have misread this. What it basically entailed was that any third-party claims (i.e: not by Maker & Friends) that existed, say, a Content ID claim, will remain once the account is released from the network. Unless you agreed to sign over administration rights regarding distribution and copyright, they don't have any claim over your content. They could in Ray's instance, where the deal was 50%/50% ownership over the intellectual property of his series, had he signed. Not in my case, though. They just unceremoniously released all my videos from their CMS and therefore the ads were no more.

I wrote a huge hate letter on a certain network you may or may not be referencing but my release form stated I had to remove prior remarks and cease entire communication with/towards them in the future.

Fullscreen is awesome.

I got my bet on Machinima. I would presume you either have to be in deep with Maker or on one of their new contracts (which is way more restrictive than what I had, to be honest) for them to pull that s**t.

Anyways, I've heard FullScreen is great too. A few months back when I was contemplating leaving Maker I applied to FullScreen's CreatorX network and got offered a Arcade partnership, which seemed like an upgrade. It was too bad one of their recruiters turned 180* when I applied again six months after their initial offer. They might've seen my fallout with Maker and changed their mind, who knows? With all that said, they're probably the only major gaming network left that hasn't had a scandal of this magnitude.

This lines up with much of what I've heard from Maker. The only exception is that to date, I've not heard or seen anyone actively trying to leave TGS.

Of course, with TGS and its parent Maker you've got those fancy tailor-made contracts. Not with RPM, where you just get the cookie-cutter templates.

You could try Reddit bombing them. It might backfire because Reddit is fickle that way, but it could help get the job done if you treat it as an "ask for help" kind of post.

Reddit? Heh, I'll pass. I do appreciate you looking out for people like us though.

Hello there :) Thank you for visiting the post! How nice to see the writer of that post here.

Nope, my interpretation was correct. Look at this reply from a YouTube employee:

"When a channel is released from a CMS, that channel will be unable to claim new videos to the CMS/Content Owner account. Any previously claimed videos will remain under that CMS if the CMS owner does not release those video claims as well (that is up to the CMS owner to do). You cannot unclaim a video from the Video manager; that can only be done from within CMS (which, if you are part of a network, that means only the network can release the video claims and reference files)."

Thanks again for visiting :)

Sorry about it, then. Yeah, they released all their claims from my videos after I left; others may not have been so lucky.

I do want to update I have (finally) received my royalties from Maker and will update it on my site today.

That's great, but I bet that they didn't pay you any interest since the time that the payment should have originally been made, right? Such a disgusting company Maker Studios is. By the way, do you mind linking to this post on your blog, please? Thanks.
