DO NOT GIVE UP!!!

I'm glad I read this today! I've been getting a little discouraged by extremely slow growth. But like someone mentioned earlier, it's not about concentrating on numbers, it's about enjoying the process. Have to stay focused on that!

Well it's a good point not to give up, but at the same time, I think it's important to evaluate your efforts properly.
This is important, especially if you have aspirations of being very successful on youtube. I will tell you right now that if you've been working at your channel for several years, posting regularly, and only have a handful of views and/or subs, that you will likely never be very successful if you continue with that channel. That might sound harsh, but think about it. How many successful Youtubers do you know who worked hard on their channel for years with very little success and suddenly made it big 5 years later? I can't think of any. Now, if you don't care about success so much and just do it mostly for fun, then that's fine. Keep with it.

It's hard to be successful at Youtube, especially in certain oversaturated niches. Not giving up is admirable, and you should always give yourself and your channel as much of a chance to succeed as possible, but you can't be afraid to give up on a channel either. You have to understand that 'giving up' on a particular channel, after a year or two of relatively stagnant growth, doesn't mean you are a failure. It simply means that you've recognized that this one particular idea didn't go over as well as you thought it would, or that the content on this one particular channel isn't quite what people are looking for.

So I agree partly with the OP, you should never give up after a relatively short period of time. You have to have more patience than that. But also, there is no shame in calling it quits on a channel after years of stagnation, regrouping, coming up with a new idea or a new approach, and starting fresh either.

I am going to go against the grain here...But "don't give up on anything"

Umm what?
What is our most precious resource in life?? Is it fame...money....??

I will tell you what it is, I want all of you to listen very very closely.

It is time. Time is the most precious thing we have in this world. Nothing can buy time. Time always runs out. Time is never on your side...and time...flees like a small puppy growing into a big dog. It is sand between your fingers.

What do you want to do with your life. If your channel isn't working...you are wasting your TIME on it. It takes a lot of skill, luck, chance, marketing savvey, and good content to create a channel, and sometimes that is not good enough.

Is your time better spent...spending time with your kids? Is your time better spent cooking with your spouse? Is your time better spent on working out with your girlfriend??? What is the point of a channel if not to create an added benefit to your life. If the struggle out weighs the benefit...then there is a problem, and you need to be honest with yourself. Why would you waste the most precious thing you have on something you are not getting anything tangeble out of.

If you are having fun, if you are making good connections, if you feel connected to something with your channel then maybe its a plus in your life. Success is not measured by numbers. If you allow yourself to ruled by numbers then you become a slave.

If you have something positive you want to share with the world that you believe in so much...if people don't start seeing that right away and start making the waves part for you..and give you good feedback then you are perhaps not ever going to get the accolades you want.

Be real with yourself. You only have one self. Don't let anything steal from you the precious time you have on this earth. Don't spend your whole life in front of a computer.

"Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" ~Winston Churchill. I'm not trying to promote my newest video (since I don't post in the videos forum even though I can) but that very quote is in there. It certainly applies to this topic. But elaborating further, it's vital that you learn from your failures. Certainly, little or no channel growth within a year or two is a sign that changes should be made. Most of the failures seem to be in the marketing of videos. Watch some videos on youtube seo, how to properly tag, title and what should be in the description. There is always a solution to any problem. You just have to persevere until you find it.

Exactly, such a good motivation this is, I always keep in mind that I can entertain the few people who watch my videos so thats what I am doing it for mostly :)

Great Post !! Gives very needed inspiration, patience is always needed to be successful. Somethings we try to always keep in mind is everyone that's big now started off in the same exact spot as us. But through their hard work and patience they persevered !
