Do All-Around Gaming Channels Work?

So basically, I had a Majora's Mask series that I wasn't enjoying, so I stopped it. I want to start Dead Space because I love the franchise, but also want to do some Minecraft. That got me thinking, do gaming channels that post everything really work? Do you guys subscribe to those kinds of channels, the ones that post all kinds of different games, or do you like channels the focus on solely Horror or solely Minecraft? Leave a response, because i'm really curious.

with me to be honest I prefer gaming channels that do everything, it can get boring real quick if you are putting out one kind of video out forever. just my opinion, best of luck! :)

Moved this to Strategies and Technique Advice.

Sorry for putting this in the wrong section. Thanks for moving it though :)

That's the same way I feel, I get bored of channels that just put out one type of video. Thanks, and good luck to you too

I just like to do whatever I'm in the mood for. If you're playing a game you want to play, then you'll have more fun playing and the viewers will have more fun watching. Fun is a contagious disease.

I'm sad that you stopped majora's mask because i love that game!!! but i have a gaming channel and i do all types of games!! I don't focus on one game i just put a random game for game-play while commentating about either gaming news or funny stories of my past

I'm rotating 4 games atm with a random funny game every week. Even your most loyal sub will not watch every video you upload. I upload a video everyday so this is a good system for me. Let's say the sub is only there to watch one game they're guaranteed 1-2 videos of the series they're following a week and it also leaves room for them to get on another series you're doing.

My following is very small atm and I'm about to drop Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch. I don't get much interaction from my viewers so I'm not afraid of dropping a game I'm not completely enjoying atm.

As for what I enjoy? If I like the person I'll watch them play any game as long as it's not a story heavy game that I want to play myself. I've ignored a youtubers series because I really wanted to play the game myself.

I'm surprised sometimes I publish these letsplay videos expecting 0 views (happens once in awhile), but they usually end up with at least 2-5 views by the end of the week so I either have some dedicated subs or random people are popping in.

Well, technically this one gamer named "PewDiePie" is an all around gaming channel... I hear he's doin' alright for himself. :P

Sass aside, I think it probably depends partially on what kind of track record you have. If you establish early on that you play a variety of games but you're keeping the same level of fun commentary than I think it works. If you're primarily relying on the game content to speak for itself, then I'd say that breaking the pattern would be pretty rough on subscribers.

I keep it varied - I put up games I'm into; not what is trending and latest and greatest - the channel is about me before the game titles after all - otherwise people can go watch gameplay videos elsewhere!

Seen many channels where they force the games onto the channel because its new; you can tell they're not into it and begging for views by trying to be 'fashionable' (and predictable).

Like others have said, I won't sub to certain channels if it's dominated by the same game - if I've stumbled across a personality I like, I'm more likely to watch anything they do, though. ;)
