Do Accents Impact Your YouTube Success?

At first it took me a while to get used to the british accent, but as long as it is understandable, then it's alright. Many big youtubers are British, so people must like their accent or at least understand it. I personally hope my accent isn't as noticeable, because Spanish is my first language.

The type of accent makes precious little difference I think. If anything having a non american accent might help cause it's seen as "exotic" but, if your accent causes you to not be understood, then you need to brush up on your pronunciation. Having a non american accent isn't going to hurt your success, but being difficult to understand will.

I'm italian , so yeah , let's talk about accents .
And my italian accent is "particular" even for italians .
I can't change my accent . I don't want to and if you can't understand me , well I'm sorry .

I just have a boring american accent. I was born and raised in the south too, so sometimes I have a bit of a twang, but mostly it's just the normal american accent.

I love british accents though. They turn me on.

If anything my accent helped my channel a lot, the Irish accent is regarded as one of the seciest accents in the world and it just so happens im from Ireland. I got a few comments about how nice and good my accent was and I think it helped me a lot in getting subscribers but I do know what you mean. I havent seen or heard of many Scottish YouTubers because of the reason you explained, I know some parts of Scotland have very thick accents which makes it very difficult to understand. Same with Russian accents and what not some are understandable and some are unbareable its the same way in Ireland too I guess

I've only ever had one comment about my Aussie accent, which was positive. The whole accent thing was one one reason why I didn't do commentary on my early videos.

But I did a couple and had no negatives, so went from there. Have got a lot more confident and relaxed in the presentation since.

Some accents are really hard to understand and annoying, but others are great. Can't please everyone.

Russian/Romanian ones make me chuckle, and I like the US southern drawl as well.

I have had a few comments about mine mostly positive but personally I do think it hinders my videos a little when its harder for some people to understand what I am saying. I think for the most part though I dont speak much of my local dialect in my videos and try to avoid most of it to make it easier for people to understand.
