Dislike Botted

I Love YTtalk
Hey friends, I'm back from the darkness or wherever I've been and todays topic sucks but I need somewhere to talk about it.

There is a guy who sent me a messaged at 1am one morning just saying "hi" and I'm fairly certain I read it and fell asleep, i didn't know him, he wasn't like a regular commenter or person on my twitter so it didn't seem important.
The next day however, he sends me a message saying he will dislike bot me and when I said go on do it, he said he'd hack my YouTube so I felt obligated to talk to this guy, its what he wanted so he wouldn't do the things to my account.
He messages for a couple of days and then he stops, I think nothing of it and continue my life.

Last night, I uploaded my first video in over a month, I was pleased with it and myself then suddenly all these dislikes start rolling in. He leaves a comment to the effect of "you wouldn't talk to me" and on another account "sorry for all these dislikes but i had too" or something.
So i hop on over to twitter to message this guy who I know is behind it and he basically says I should start messaging him first, I ~have~ to be his friend or he'll keep doing this stuff to me.
SO I blocked him on everything I can find, I reported his messages, comments, accounts and then I outed him to my Twitter followers. He started telling them they didn't have "the whole story" so I screenshotted some messages to really round out my point.
He has now started dislike botting my friends and saying to all of us that every future video will be disliked the same. He told Lydia that he'd undo it if I unblocked him and talked to him which I am not doing because he makes my skin crawl.

Do you guys have any other advice on what to do? Clearly we can't get rid of any of the dislikes and whilst I'm not turning the liking system off, Tori has.

Edit: he seems to be under the impression that YouTubers owe him something or he has to right to mess with us which is awful :(

This seems to be pretty common. Dudes will basically blackmail girls on youtube into "being their friend" or they'll dislike bot them. F*ckin' pathetic. I don't know what you can do but ignore the dude, tbh.

Jeez, that sucks. How people can be such dicks I'll never really understand. There are a few ways I'd try to look at it. First, putting aside the obviously s****y way it makes you feel, it's a much more engagement on each video which YouTube will rank as good and place you higher. Second, since you obviously make content to a very high standard and have been successful, your current fans will see it, wonder what the hell is going on, find out, then rally behind you. New people coming in will see it and do the same most likely. The main thing with dislike botting is that it's incredibly obvious to anyone actually looking at it and those who don't notice wouldn't care about your likes ratio anyways. There will obviously be a small subsection of dumb people who join in or think its real, but that's a minority.

As for how it makes you feel and how to deal with it. One, talk to people who'll support you and understand how much dislikes seriously suck, like people on here! Two, now that you have outed him, and been honest with everyone that follows you, just leave it there and pretend he doesn't even exist. When people ask whats going on just direct them too where you posted what was happening. His satisfaction will come from your reaction so I'd say its best to cut him out.

Anyways, hope this helps in someway and anything I can do, let me know! :)

I would try to contact youtube support if they can check out where are these dislikes coming from. I have no other option
I'll give it a go, I can't imagine they'll be terribly helpful but its worth a try :)[DOUBLEPOST=1470907506,1470907472][/DOUBLEPOST]

yeah I decided that once I'd blocked and outed him, I was done with him. Pity he keeps dragging other people into this mess :/ thanks for the encouragement, really does help! :)

OMG that's insane, I'm so sorry this happened to you :( In real life it would probably be considered stalking, and the dislikes would be like throwing stones at your house. So where's the online police? I can only urge you to take this to YT support, so that they ban this guy's accounts, stop him from making more, and also undo the damage to your channel.
In the future I'd probably stop all contact immediately if a guy turns out to be an a**. All they need is a tiny reaction from you to keep going.

Actually he is technically doing you a favour. YouTube doesn't care if you have likes or dislikes. It just matter that there is engagement at all. So you videos will rank higher in search.

As XXLRay said above, dislikes still count as engagement which is positive for your search rankings and quite a few other things. Regardless, giving that dude attention is a terrible idea. Block and don't respond.

Oh no, where do they get so much of energy from, how many times will he dislike your videos? One day he will get tired of doing this sh*t. I would say IGNORE his activities, you keep on making your videos.

That sucks dude; a similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago where my latest videos got hit by large numbers of dislikes in an "attack"! All you can do is follow the processes and make sure you report/screenshot everything, block the users etc and keep on doing what you do. In my case it died down eventually, and "so far" I haven't had any dislikes on my last two videos.

The good news however is during that time, I gained the most subscribers and likes from friends and other YouTubers, and it had a positive effect on my overall rankings for my channel. Hopefully this will be the case for you too.

Your content looks good, and I also gave your last video a like to help boost the positive/negative ratio a bit more in your favour!

I hope things improve for you!
