4 a day is solid gains imho. I’d sign for a gain like that every day. 121 subs a month is something I have gained and surpassed, but also fallen short of last month and this month.

All it takes is that one video that resonates with people. That video leads them to other videos and if they like what they see they’ll subscribe! I never produced a video like that and have quit hoping I will. I now create for the sake of creating with no pressure.

You won’t hit crazy sub numbers until you get up there. At that point people subscribe because they want to be part of a big group. That is why it is hard to grow when you are small. No one wants to subscribe to the small “pretender”.
 
Luck x talent x hard work = get big.

Snowball effect or not, if you intend to make YouTube a serious endeavor, you better carry those two variables that you can control.
 
I think is varies depending on channel. That being said I believe that it takes time to get your channel up and running. Once your channel gets enough exposure and enough people see it though, it will start showing up more and more and people will start watching your videos more often which equates to more subs.
