Could somebody please explain why sub4sub is detrimental?

Sub for sub is sustainable to an extent. It's possible for 5-10 people to agree to support each other but as the number grows it's harder to watch, like and comment on each one. It is impossible to watch 200 people's videos and expect all 200 to watch you back. There just isn't enough time. There often isn't enough time to watch the videos of everyone you genuinely support.

There's a direct correlation with the propensity to sub for sub and the low quality of videos someone makes. I say

Perhaps we should start a new trend: care4care. Care = subscribing, watching videos all the way through on a regular basis, commenting on and liking them, watching pre-roll ads all the way through, and clicking on banner ads when they pop up.

Sub 4 Sub only makes it hard for you to follow the channels you want to follow (as you will now have thousands of channels you are subscribed to).

Any YouTuber, any REAL YouTuber, is selective on who they subscribe to for that reason. No matter if they create content themselves or not. Those that subscribe to thousands of channels? Highly unlikely you'll get a single view from them.

No one would believe you produce good anything, only thing they'd see is a desperate guy who did Sub4Subs and leave. 10k subs, 200 views? If your "content" was good then you wouldn't have such a odd ratio. People aren't dumb lol.
What if you produce good content but are still desparate? Lol

The slow growth rate gets frustrating...I usually just ask my friends though...other than the CTA in my weekly travel videos.

Basically you would be getting a fake sense of growth. I don't want that. I want people to like my videos for me. If anything it inspires me to change and grow as a new you tuber :). Learn from everything and keep improving

I've moved this to the Strategies & Technique Advice Forum. ^_^

There are lots of previous threads from members saying they regretted trying Sub4Sub for many of the reasons mentioned already (such as this older thread: http://yttalk.com/threads/the-dangers-of-sub4sub.105322/). The strongest and most successful channels are those that have an engaged audience. Sub4Sub does not promote an engaged audience, it just creates an inflated, fake audience....
