Contacting other YouTubers

100K channel owners replying to all emails? Wow! I haven't expected this tbh!

So @xsstreem if a bigger channel can agree to collaborate with a smaller channel (like you told), what value can a bigger channel have from your videos if your fanbase might not be very wide? I've read (in Tim Schmoyer's book xd) that if the videos of that small channel stand out then it's possible! Could you please tell about some collabs like this which happened on YouTube? Thanks:)

I've done a collab video with a Youtuber named Tehsmarty, and he has 100k subscribers. It is possible. All you have to do is type in tehsmarty hypixel and you'll find a couple videos which fit your description.

Well, anyways I think I've misread the previous post so I edited mine

It seems to me like YouTubing is more like a game with levels. The higher level you reach, the more YouTubers open for collabs, isn't it? ;P

For the most part, yes. But it's also how well you play the level you're at.

Does it feel okay psychologically to work with a bigger creator?

I mean that a smaller creator can feel that's unfair or that they now owe something to that creator. Generally, does it feel equal for both sides?

Thanks for your replies xD

I wasn't trying to collab or get a shoutout from any of those persons I contacted what I was offering them would have benefited both me and them. They just chose to ignore it

Of course it's okay! There is a certain manner of professionalism involved, working with someone like that. You want to make a good impression and generally be easy to work with. The Youtuber already knows where you are subwise when collaborating with you, so it's not a problem.

One thing to remember though is that the bigger youtubers sometimes are judged by who they do videos with, so there is a reputational thing that sometimes comes into play when collaborating with smaller Youtubers. Make sure it's good![DOUBLEPOST=1470345812,1470345666][/DOUBLEPOST]

Some people have probably ignored my offers to collaborate and there may be a reason behind it that I'm not aware of. But don't let it shake ya!

You're right!

How do you think, what benefits can smaller channels offer to bigger ones?

I've searched your collabs with Teh and I'm curious if you've got some extra feedback 'cause I'm not seeing much views on them:D Were these split videos (two videos on two collaborating channels)? And how did it help you? Generally, how was it? Thanks for the replies! xD

Smaller channels can still contribute towards a larger channel's overall viewership, especially if the audience is active and supportive of the person they're watching.

I've gotten feedback from Tehsmarty on the videos and he says it's pretty good. Actually what happened was at the time of recording this video, Smarty was streaming his view on Twitch. This was pretty much a recorded version of Smarty's stream but from my viewpoint.

I've also been a guest on his podcast series "John and Pals" (#12).

Also, I've been posting videos regularly on my channel. My last video was posted two days ago. :)

Apparently yes, there are some people over 100k that reply to fan mail. I got some advices on video lenght from Clint of Lazy Game Reviews, I guess it also depends on how you write the message/mail, something like asking for attention in general is badly seen, while asking for advices on a peer level without going into detail can be seen as something positive.

I see, I just haven't noticed it's your featured video, not the last upload:D
