I kind of agree with @TheBatteryChicken, most of them don't last and are at times not worth watching. There is always that one person that you can tell is less skilled, or less professional, or just don't care and it ruins the whole group. Starting off with your own channel and doing occasional collabs is better in my opinion. I love Smosh Games, but Lasercon, Jovenshire, and Sohinki all started solo and were joined together later on. Because they each knew how to hold the attention of the audience it kind of works for Smosh Games.
I'd go solo, build an audience, and do the occasional collab.
