Channel demonetized for "Reused content"

Bingo.

The audio was never the issue. Voicing over repeat/overlapping footage would never have helped. --and when there are as many videos as there are using the same clips it is bound to happen. My guess would be to remove the ones that get viewed less (either English or Japanese) then submit for review.

Oh, I'll just delete all of them, both English and Japanese. I can provide different ways for those cutscenes out of Youtube, if anything. Will probably delete all of those soundtracks as well, as they are made of a static picture with just different audio.
Or you're suggesting that those can't be the issue, as audio in general was never the issue? They do share the same static picture, though.

You can try what EnemyCrab is telling you if you but I think he's wrong, still.. you have nothing to lose! Keep us posted and see if it worked for your next review, I'm curious to understand more about this subject!

What can't I monetize?
Without the appropriate license from the publisher, use of video game or software user interface must be minimal. Video game content may be monetized if the associated step-by-step commentary is strictly tied to the live action being shown and provides instructional or educational value.

Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization."

I understand you don't want to change your content and that's what your Audience likes,,, but that doesn't mean YouTube will monetise your channel, yeah sure... you can keep uploading videos if you want, nothing wrong there!

A better plan will be to ask support from your fans and open a Patreon if you want to continue with the same formula.
This official rule is the first thing I learned before opening my channel 8 months ago. Rules are always changing and we need to adapt to them every year! I didn't have any problem with my Review on July 2018 when I reach 1K subs and 4K hours, I really think commentary helped me a lot to get approved

I just find extremely both absurd and astonishing how such a restricting rule (put voiceovers or you won't get monetized anymore) would be now an absolute rule, without even properly informing or warning the creators. It's not like people have been only doing commentary over the years. There are simply too many creators who make silent gameplays for the sake of the videos themselves already, so I find very, very odd that each one of them will have this terrible surprise out of nowhere.

If this is actually an absolute rule, this will hit just too many people out of the blue.

Well... it is written here: source: "support.google.com/youtube/answer/138161?hl=en" so I can assume is a rule and I believe it's been there for a while, is just something people doesn't look up. I didn't want to use my voice in my videos but I googled: Can I monetise youtube gameplays? and that article was the reason to add commentary.

It's their site so pretty much their rules and they've been changing them for a while now. I recommend you watch the channel "Creator Insider" to know more about new updates, bugs and changes.

Yeah,,, there are many creators who were hit and youtube started cleaning their site by enforcing their rules, here's the article about transparency and how they closed 1,6M channels in 3 months "transparencyreport.google.com/youtube-policy/removals" They didn't mention how many channels were demonetised but that report can give you an idea of what they are doing and what they are expecting from creators. I won't be surprise if they start closing "No commentary" gameplays/channels in the future if they add them to the category of duplication/spam. Commentary is the best weapon you can use as Fair Use and Freedom of Speech specially if you add value to the video or transform it.

The Japanese exclusive titles that you have added translation to might be the only videos that can be monetized. However YouTube might see it differently especially if the majority of your content is just the original game play through.

You can always try just adding the captions and see what they say. But I suspect they are wanting more from the creator community.

What if videos only have text/subtitles and music? Any thoughts about this? It isn't a voice, but adds something to a video in my opinion.

That's a pretty good question.. I've questioned this for a while now. I know 2 gaming channels covering the same game I do got monetised (or that's what I thought unless someone claimed the video but the developers aren't doing that) and these two channels never had commentary when they started... they went from 10K to 100K without commentary I believe BUT I think they got approved because they made less than 5 videos with text or trying to explain something. Now they decided to add voiceover to their videos... coincidence?

Is there even a way to talk to Support?
I've sent an email to yt-partner-support but I got responded with an automatic message right after:

But when I follow the so called instructions, there's no a link or anything that would allow me to write a message to them. What gives?

@Everglow

If you've been demonetized, you won't have access to Creator Support. That's only available to fully monetized partner channels. Please tell me what these instructions were?
