Changing the way I make videos

Easiest way to sort your problem out. Do the let's play how you normally would, keep the 10-20mins videos. Once you finish the let's play, start making highlight videos which is where you do the 2-5min things. I've been slacking off on that area myself because I just don't have time between work, r&r and the amount of games I'm playing. But it can be a great way to give people a bite size piece of the action and can even lead them to watching the full version of the let's plays. I did it with my Assassin's Creed 4 videos on my old channel. This way you aren't tossing out any footage and doing the highlights videos at the end of the entire let's play gives you more room to play around with editing for e.g. if you want a jump cut to a future moment for some reason.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing that ha. So the videos I made 2 years ago should I put them as private and upload the highlight ones instead?
 
Sometimes long videos are justified. Just depends on the topic and amount of information/fun you can provide!
However, short videos get them to look at your related videos and outro/suggested videos quicker...And if you're trying to get "big" on YouTube, the more views the better... So short DOES win out, but don't be afraid to create long videos if it is definitely justified.

No, you misunderstood, I'm saying do the let's plays normally how you would. So actually make videos for the let's plays but then do highlights of the let's plays once you're done. You can even make a separate sequence and chuck all your best moments in their while you're editing to make things easier later on.

I trust him. I just watched the Candelabra video and it's amazing. This guy will have a lot more fans some day.
 
I really like the one persons idea of making sort of a trailer of the funny moments of your game play. Then you could annotate it to the whole lets play. I say do what you really enjoy doing. If you really enjoy doing lets plays where the videos are longer then go for it. But def mix in some shorter videos here and there. I do a short video about once a week at least. But I love doing lets plays and watching them personally at least.
