Can't Reply to "Linked Comment"

Okay so a friend of mine commented on one of my videos and I can't reply.

I assume it has something to do with it being a "Linked Comment". Could someone please clarify the situation for me?

The person may have replies turned off. Double check by going into the community section and finding the comment there.

When I don't get the option to reply I inbox them so they just don't think that I am ignoring them.

Yeah, it means they've got replies disabled on the comment. I don't know why Google allowed it as an option it's a pain for content creators. If you want to reply as suggested above you can inbox the person OR you can write a new comment on your video and try to tag them with "+username".

This is a really annoying problem Was there not a way to something like "@username" to tag them?
