I saw some copyrighted movies were uploaded on youtube. I dont know if the uploader knows he/she shouldn't upload copyrighted movies on youtube or not. Should I tell the channel to remove them?

Can the movie producers sue the uploaders on youtube?

I dont think they can, you will just get a copyright strike against your name which then limits you to what networks you can join.

wouldn't producers etc want to sue for money? If no one made the money off the upload what would they be suing for in damages? Basically nothing because they could of easily monetized it themselves. I've only heard of YouTube Lawsuits when someone is a threat to their image. Like Shane Dawson when he did the parody of Taylor Swift about killing her security guard and then going after her as a stalker. I also see lawsuits when someone has earned a ton of money off the song illegally. Never have seen one published in the news about a YouTuber who just uploaded something and left it alone.

Another Scenario:

Lets say you are totally homeless. Can't even afford a sandwich and need to borrow money from people on the street. You record yourself with a song in the background. Is that company really going to sue you? You are homeless. Have no Money. Can't even afford a Lawyer. It would be pointless.

That's quite the vivid picture, Bryce!

You will be given a copyright strike at the worst case scenario if the original publisher is notified and decides to take action against that video. Of course, it will be taken down and globally blocked by then!

you nailed it. Thank you

Not really sue... but they can claim, mute, or even take down your video. Just not worth the hassle. I learned when I was still green to stay the f**k away from Linkin Park songs, XD.
