Can I be a bigger YouTuber without showing my face?

DerekRantsGaming made a character (called Derek) out of one of his masks and used that for face cams. Was really funny - he played along the story that Derek was an angry goblin-like-thing that always got useless FIFA packs. When he finally hit 100,000 subs, he did a face reveal.

I'm sure you're not ugly at all though - true beauty comes from the inside :) #soppy

If your viewers are asking for you to show your face and you would prefer not to, then ask yourself, "What's something else that I can do to make my content more enjoyable and make up for the lack of showing my face?"

Very true and I've been asked a few times. Everything is fine as it is. I just needed some answers on the topic.

You don't have to show yourself to be a big channel.

A+Start rarely shows his face, he has 404k subs.
Ashens very rarely shows his face, he has 1.1m subs.
Biokrik has NEVER shown his face, he has 1676 subs.
RebelTaxi has NEVER shown his face, he has 282k subs.
ReviewTechUSA used to never show his face, he just started this month and he has 545k subs.
Smea has never shown his face, he has 11,980 subs.
Zero Punctuation (Escapist) has 913k subs he has never shown his face either.

It's just the content. Can you deliver a unique channel, keep your viewers coming back and help build a community.

Put out quality content and I don't think it will matter if you ever show your face! I totally +1 the idea of a mask. You could even make yourself known for that as someone has already mentioned.

I do mostly whiteboard animation. But you can try what I do. I just show myself at my outro in the end simply thanking people. In the future I plan to show myself if I feel comfortable enough to keep an audience's attention for 5 minutes.

Definitely! Look at people like GradeAUnderA and Pyrocynical. Ultimately the two most important things to become a big YouTuber are promotion and quality content.
