Mr Not That Famous
Im getting real sick and tired of the "Big Youtuber" help videos i see posted by youtube....no body posted worked for any of their views, in fact 90% of them were friends with other big youtubers who actually worked for their views and just got the "Friends with" whoever subs...and 100% of the people they have on there post utter crap, now dont get me wrong the camera quality is magnificent but if i took a candid shot of some poop, it doesn't make it art. I'm not mad at them for being big youtubers, they did what they did, congratulations, im mad that they are giving useless advice to people who are actually gonna listen to them....by far the worst i have seen is Olga Kay (A.k.a trying to sell socks in every freaking video she makes), her advice is priceless, "Just keep at it and do your best", oh thanks, this whole time we were banging our heads against the keyboard....

The thing is that those who made it big were just lucky and started when youtube was still small.

There is no real secret or advice to be big on youtube. All you have to do is stick in there and hope you might get lucky. There are probably more talented people out there than the big ones who never gets to their level. But thats the same in every business from music to working at an office. Talent will always get buy unnoticed by some... sadly.

I understand this completely. I have seen people who make terrible quality videos (not just visual and audio) yet somehow get 200,000 subscribers and 100,000,000 views. The worst thing I think is being mean to your viewers. I see channels who will curse directly at their viewers, yet somehow they continue to stay big. I think the right way to grow is by being yourself and using natural growth techniques like S.E.O. and collaborations. However, there are always people who are going to take the easy way out. An example other than YouTube is basketball. LeBron James is a huge offender of this. He left Cleveland to go to a super talented team that should have won 70+ games per season. Now he is going back to Cleveland because they have a ton of talent. These are some of the worst parts of life, but some people just aren't willing to work.

The tips are always the same too. I don't think people understand that if all the top Youtubers are doing something then doing the same thing won't necessarily get you views or subscribers. Also, everyone is jumping on the Youtube bandwagon and the majority of people will stop at some point. Now that Youtube is going more and more mainstream, no matter how popular some people are they may fade out if they don't have the goods to keep going. There's so much of the same happening I stopped paying attention. I think you can only do what you do and do it the best way you can.

I guess this is true. But I wouldn't generalize all big YouTubers. Plus, Ogla is one of the hardest working people on YouTube. According to various articles, she works over 80 hours a week or more to put a new video practically every day on all her channels. She is just trying to make money because she is not a millionaire or anything.
Also, I would much rather hear tips from bigger YouTubers then small ones. So many people with under 50 subscribers make videos about how to get big on YouTube, as if they knew. And these small YouTubers just do it for the views and there videos are usually horrible quality and they don't know what they are saying. For example, they might say have good lighting, make good thumbnails and put your social medias in the description and then they do none of these things in their own video. At least the big YouTubers take their own advice.

The thing is that those who made it big were just lucky and started when youtube was still small.

That might be true for some YouTubers, but not all. It seems like a lot of them joined in or around 2010. But still some joined fairly recently and their channels blew up. But I do agree with what you said about talent will go unnoticed.

I got a tip from a big youtuber once, he literally said 'There is no point asking big youtubers for advice because what they did to get big wouldn't work anymore'
This is very true. They would be having trouble too if they started now. Not that they wouldn't necessarily get big, but they don't have to deal with as many things as we do as they already have an audience.

I got pretty much the same thing from a guy that makes a living doing YouTube.
He said he got lucky as he was in the right place at the right time, but starting late was a massive uphill battle. Even so, I keep climbing :)
