Best Way To Tell My Parents I Do YouTube?

I don't think that you have much hope. You knew they would not approve. If they ask to see your channel, they may not be happy about your 'parents' video. I wouldn't recommend telling them straight out but rather trying to warm them up to the idea for a few months.

There is definitely a trust issue. You appear to make bad decisions such as botting your videos for views.

hmm yea that does look bad but it's because my old channel had it's Adsense banned (I used the same address as another my dad's Adsense account so both got banned) and so I told all my subs on that channel to go to the new one I made.
I'm assuming they specifically told you not to do it? They aren't going to take it well.
well I kind of just one day started making videos, they never told
me I couldn't but then again I never asked if I could.

I looked at more than one video. When I seen three like this and then the fourth had the stats blocked, I had enough information.

Think what you want, but just letting you know, you are wrong. I also don't recall blocking the stats on any videos...? Either way, guess what? This has absolutely nothing to do with my question!

EDIT: Not sure why this posted and all of my other replies need to be reviewed...

Basically I've been doing YouTube since August of last year, and it's been going great! However, I've been holding back a lot on quality and quantity due to the fact that my parents are unaware of the fact that I make videos. I can rarely record a video, and when I do it has to be rushed because I don't want to risk gettig caught. This has been effecting my channel severel since I post extremely rarely and my subscribers constantly want new videos. It's become pretty evident that my parents need to be aware of my hobby if I want to pursue it seriously.

I'm planning on telling my parents tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if you guys have any advice on specific things I should be telling them to have the best outcome. My parents are overprotective, against things aren't normal (ie YouTube). I want it to go as smoothly as possible without too much screaming. So yep, basically just what are some key things I should use as arguments to help keep my channel alive and not result in me being forced to delete it and being a disappointment to my family.

Thanks!!

Tell them you'll give them some of the money you earn :p.

Only kidding, just explain to them how beneficial YouTube really is and how it exactly works. Also tell them about the community on these forums and on YouTube and how the site is really benifiting you and there is nothing to worry about :).

Unless you want youtube to be your life career you should be fine if it's just going to be a hobby. Maybe one day it could be career, but it isn't your go to goal.
I'm aiming to make youtube my life and I'm having a hard time telling my parents. This is an ambition and dream I could call my own. That's why I'm spending the entirety of this Summer solely working on my channel so when I do tell my parents they'll see that for once in my life I know what I want and I'm not holding back.
Good luck to you and everyone else :)

Just tell them straight and tell them that you enjoy making them. That way they will sure understand and even they will support you on what you're doing. :)

Point 1) being a youtuber is like being a lot of things in 1, sort of like a jack of all trades, you learn so much in such little time and continue to do so throughout your time doing YouTube. This can be beneficial in some areas of life and business practice, especially if you a bit of social media skills. point 2) it can be turned into a career, you're at 12k subs you're going the right way. point 3) you want to ensure them school comes first regardless of the fact that's practically useless, but pass it anyways in case you need work later on point 4) assuming they are overprotective towards something like YouTube it suggests to me they aren't so tech net savy, tell them Google is a multi-billion corporation and that they constantly have a team of highly train ex-special forces soldiers monitoring YouTube at all times. If all else fails tell them you got a girl pregnant then say you do YouTube right after. The worst that can happen is they accept the fake pregnancy... if that happens you can't mention YouTube :S

"Hey Mom and Dad, I make YouTube videos" - it is unlikely they will kick you out or beat you up, so what is there to fear?

I have the same problem. I have t told my parents but my so kings know and I cannot post a lot of videos and increase the quality because I have to rush things, speak quietly and find the right time to make the video.

But I know personally my parents won't be happy for me so I would just keep it away from my parents. They so said few times not to post videos on youtube.

But ur parents might be different.[DOUBLEPOST=1401612446,1401612339][/DOUBLEPOST]Wow! You have 12,000 subs!!!!
You had done good!
