Here's a great example of a promo video. These are my good friends puppet radio. They have a campaign started at Indiegogo, (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/puppet-radio-s-full-length-album ) to garner some fundage from fans and the public:

They made this video to point people in that direction. Notice they also alert people to their social media. All the while their music is playing throughout the video and you get a glimpse and sense of who they are and what they are about.
