What I mean is, are there people who go to someone's channel, realise they only have a few subscribers, and then decide not to subscribe because of that? Or are people just as likely to subscribe to small channels as bigger ones?
Sometimes people will click onto someone's channel and click away without looking at their content based on that, but those are usually the people who don't care. If someone actually cares about watching entertaining videos, they're not just going to click off based on subscriber count.
I agree with Dino, usually when I check some channel with smaller subs, but their content isn't appealing, I just click away, and if there content is worth watching, I check other videos too and I would subscribe for their great effort
I have it in my mind that it does make them less likely to subscribe, I'm not sure why or if this is actually true but for some reason I feel it to be the case. Maybe it comes from seeing channels getting large numbers of subscribers over a certain number of time (1, 2, 3 years) and then literally gaining double the amount of subscribers they had with in 1 month of that. But maybe we need some kind of actual research or survey done to see if this is actually the case.

I don't know about other people, but my process of subscribing is this. I click on a channel, and take a look at their banner, and avatar to see if it's something they care about enough to make sure looks good. If they have a channel trailer playing, I'll watch that first, and see what their channel is about. I then go to their video section, and click on their most recent, and first video (to see how far they've come). I really only subscribe if the content is something useful to me (tutorials I need), or I find it interesting. I don't subscribe to friends, or people that want me to subscribe just because they subscribed to mine. Do I feel bad? Yes, though I'm very picky about the channels I subscribe to, and will only do it if I intend on watching the content, otherwise it'd be just me giving them a subscriber number which doesn't help them.
I Think A Key thing for a smaller channel is to rally grab your audience Within the first 5 Seconds, people will click on your videos and in the time it takes then to see you only have a few subscribers you need t have captured their attention so they think, hey this small guy isn't, so bad. but i feel it is the case that small channels find it really hard to grow even if there content is good. As i Final note i think that a good intro screen is important i find that if im watching a video if there isnt really a into to it i tend not to watch.
I do think that maybe some people do that but for me if I think a channel have some good content, then I usually subscribe. But what I think is most important is the thumbnail. I almost never click in a bad thumbnail except if I don't find anything better.
Usually they look at the content first but few people will look at the subscribers.
A. Whether the content is good or not, they will decide.
B. Whether how many subscribers are there, they will decide
