Are people reluctant to subscribe to small channels?

It's all part of human psyche. Everyone wants to be part of something big, while not many want to be part of something small. But, your content has to be likeable to get those latter ones to subscribe. As soon as you ascend to a level noticeable by others (a level which is ever increasing) organic growth happens.

The only way to rise quickly is exposure from known channels. By uttering one word pewdiewhatever could make a gaming channel bigger than ever. Too many people expect bigger channels to help them out though, and if they don't help they think the person is an *******. In reality the person behind a channel is still a person. They won't feature a channel unless you resosonate with him / her. As soon as you ask to be featured you have already lost.
 
Its all about the content of your channel, yes usualy people just click away without checking your videos, a good way that should help us making a good "unsubscribers video" which summarize your channel's content and attracts people to viewing more of your videos.
 
There is a kind of a natural hesitation for people to bother looking at small channels, just for the simple fact, that if a channel has lots of subscribers, its probably because they make good videos, so they would naturally click on that channel instead.
The reason people don't subscribe to small channels is really because a lot of small channels are bad quality, and they just aren't up to the standards of the bigger channels. Type in 'Call Of Duty Gameplay' and go on the 'Upload Date' filter and watch some of the smaller channels. A lot of them are poor quality video and audio, no intros, outros, banners, proper titles/descriptions, etc. People naturally trust the bigger channels to provide content which will be entertaining and worth your time.

That's why it is more difficult to grow a new channel.
 
Yeah, I think it's a psychological thing. If a channel only has a few subscribers you ask yourself "is it because the videos are bad?" And some people might not bother to find out that it's because the channel is new.

Also, there are a lot of people who base their opinions on other people's opinions and just follow what's most popular. :rolleyes: It's sad but there's nothing we can do about it.
 
Yeah, I also feel like this happens a lot. People just clickaway from a low-subscriber channel because they don't want to subscribe. As if they feel like people will judge them for subscribing to a "non-popular channel"

To be honest, i don´t remember the last time i saw a small channel that was really, really good. If something is really good, most of the times it will eventually get discovered. Most small channels suck.

If it´s new, then they probably don´t have enough content to give me a good reason to subscribe.

Just being honest. I don´t usually come across small channels with great content.
