Are Intros Overrated?

If you want to do an intro, make it between 2 - 7 seconds long. I can remember watching SlyFoxHound's videos... MY GOD DID THAT INTRO take a long time, back when I watched him I skipped the first 25 seconds.

I have a small outro which I really like (Of course I would:)), it's around 4 seconds long right at the end of the video.

Edit - I've seen people that put more work into their intros than the actual videos themselves, basically the video is only there to show off their intro.

Outros are amazing space that everyone should use. I always put a call to action in my outro with a subscribe button and a preview of another one of my videos .

Same here. Small preview of the next episode and a subscribe button. To bad you can't link directly to Facebook or Twitter.

Intro is ok if are not longer than 10 seconds. Personally, I don't do this in my films, because for me it's a waste of time. I just use a small watermark in the upper-right corner. For me, simplicity is the most important.

i decided a while back to only make intros for "feature length videos" i.e 20-30min long vids, and then usually somewhere between a 15-30sec intro just because there fun to make ;)

yeah i understand you they can be annoying sometimes many people do it to "brand" or "label" their videos but it can get annoying after a while thats why i dont have intros

Intros no.
Outros YES. Put your previous videos up there, a subscribe button up there and whatever other fancy s**t you can gather. :giggle:

intros are good I don't see how they are overrated at all. They are obviously done for branding purposes and just think of where your video could end up online.
