Are intros and outs good for a channel!

It gives the channel identity.

Logo's give the channel identity just as effectively.
In my opinion, that intro is twice as long as it needs to be.

Continuity in an intro is a must for me - if there's no continuity I'd rather not watch one. I don't mind if it's continuity in terms of 'theme' as such but if there's something like a random outtake at the beginning or whatever and it goes on for too long then I lose interest.

If people want to get fancy or show their skills, have a
short splashy intro but I feel it would be fine to have
a longer outro concluding with "a RaceGrooves presentation".

I dont mind either. As long as its short and to the point. Ive seen videos with 30 seconds intros and its hard to sit through.

Well check out my videos, I get only positive feedback on my intro / outro. Make sure to create short intro around 5 sec

I'd say yes, but only if it looks professional and is no longer than 10 sec.

30 second intro's made unprofessionally in cinema 4d with templates. Definite nono.
Simple, catchy 5 seconds or less intros = woo

The only successful person I know with a really long intro is Blake Bliss.

Everyone has an outro screen of some sort, plus it doesn't take away from the video.

So yeah I like them both. Channel branding ftw

He essentially made it a TV show, but free and on YouTube. Maybe it's the humor in the intro or what, but people LOVE his intro. Like the intro is one of his main identifying factors and is building fantastic branding right now.

I like the catchy music people have in their videos... whenever I hear that music anywhere else I think of that youtuber.... makes you memorable. My fave's are dailygrace, her intros are funny and her outro has information for her next video. I was wondering however, how do you get a previous video playing in a small box on the video people are watching? Is this done from youtube edit or during original editing?
