Looking for an upgrade and I was wondering if anyone had used this mic and what it was like for them as in how easy was it to set up and what the audio quality was like, I know a few people who use this but id like a few peoples opinions.

Used it at Uni. Can't comment on the set up since it was all done when I got there but the sound is amazing. I'm getting it personally when I can. You'll need an interface for it since its not USB. I use a focusrite scarlet 2i14 for my interface. But yeah, it's a fantastic microphone. Fun fact, Michael Jackson recorded with it as well as my favourite band Thrice!

I still have it hooked up to an arm in my studio but I no longer use it as my main microphone. Honestly I've got plans to sell it at some point.

not really clued up on audio set ups will just pluging it in to a sound mixer do the same thing or will i need both?
You'll need an interface with XLR ports on it for best sound. You then plug your interface into your PC, usually via USB and then your microphone into the interface. What mixer do you have?

awesome cheers ive already got my yeti pro hooked up to it but im sick of battling with it to get rid of the noise my pc makes and how ridiculously loud it is when i breathe anywhere near it haha

The SM7B is the mic that I use. Quality is great but it's not a cheap mic to run. You'll need a USB interface, that's true but most are not powerful enough to push the mic properly so you'll have to turn the gain up all the way which introduces some background noise. To use it properly you'll need something like a cloudlifter to get enough gain.

Currently, I run the mic into a Rolls mic mute to handle sneezes/coughs, then into a cloudlifter and finally into a Roland Quadcapture. Not cheap.
