Anyone use the Hauppauge HDPVR?

I record in 1080i. My software doesn't allow me to change from the default settings
the HDPVR2 formats 1080i60 to 1080p30 because 1080p30 is the same quality but a smaller file size, if you wish to record at 60fps you need to change to 720p.
720p is the only size which will actually save to 60fps (59.97). 720p will actually look the same as 1080p as the xbox 360 upscales games from 1280x720 anyway as the discs don't have a big enough file size for games at a higher res nor does the console have the power.

Long story short. 1080i60 gets automatically converted to 1080p30, 720p will record at 60fps.

I know many people who capture with their Hauppauge at 59.97, and I know the console can handle 60 FPS

HDPVR records whats on the screen. Its not like Fraps where the FPS can be changed. Thats why there is not FPS settings on the HDPVR. Fraps is an internal program, HDPVR is external. The hardware in consoles can ONLY support up to 30fps for games. Computers can do 60+fps. The next gen consoles are supposed to do 60fps though. So there is no way you are going to get 60fps on console recording. Sorry

^^ didn't read the things I posted. All COD games on xbox are 60fps. Actually most actions games play at 60fps on xbox.

So you are telling me if i had a computer build that wasnt good, and could only run games at 30fps. And they made a game that could run at 60fps. My computer could magically run at 60fps? Xbox 360s can only run what they are built form, not what the game designers choose. The hardware can only run games at 30fps. But yes, COD can run 60fps.Its built for it. Consoles just cant fully utilize it.

You clearly know nothing about consoles. Firstly, they do support 60 FPS and secondly, I know people that record at 59.97. Reading comprehension is a skill you do not seem to possess.

The hardware runs it at 60 FPS. Don't make this a pc vs console thread, you've been of no help.

Xbox 360's and PS3's have been able to run at 60fps since they got HDMI :') which is pretty much always... I think the early 360 didn't have HDMI..
btw... Pc's have nothing to do with this conversation as games made for the pc have a lot more coding to support a lot of different factors (ram, graphics cards, CPU.. etc), Games for the console are built for one specific system to run at the exact FPS the console needs, and for a nice playing experience they run at 60fps. This is why the graphics aren't as good as they normally are on PCs, because they make sure the game will play at 60fps and work just try and get the graphics as they can, which is why PC versions of games normally have better animations, graphics and sometimes even better sound.
