Anyone Have People Who Leave Comments Like "Wow how do you not have more subscribers?"

I do get this kind of comments sometimes, it feels good. As for replying, I just give them a big thank you and that I'm already thankful for my current subscribers, which is the truth.

I don't think there's a right way to respond to anything basically, you just tell them how you feel. Your subs are your community, and I think a sincere comment is the best reply you can give to any question including this one.

I never get that kind of comments, because it's not for my niche I think. As I only make lectures for students, nobody cares about the number of subs (including me).

I never get comments like that but I do get comments like "good video" and those who say that it was a good video and that I should check their channel out, I just delete those, it pisses me off.
At first I responded to those, but not anymore.

That kind of a comment would be flattering though.

The closest I've had to that comment are:
"Ima sub to u cause u deserve it good luck can't wait to see u at 1 million :)" to which I replied "Thanks! Only 999,995 more to go. :)"
and
"you are better than PewDiePie" to which I replied "Thanks a lot! And you are more awesome than Markiplier!".

I have received about a dozen comments saying things like, "you deserve way more subs, or I was here before 1,000,000 subs, or your content deserves way more views."

What do you guys make of these comments. By that I mean, it makes me question what I am doing that isn't getting me these views, or subs that "I deserve". I have grown by 200 subs in 2016, and I am more then pleased. But views seem to be topping out between 200-1000.

How do you make the leap into 1,000-10,000 views per video? Is it simply time? or Luck? or both?
