Anyone else here have merchandise?

I agree with what's already been said, I wouldn't do it until you hit 10k at the very least.

The idea for me at least wasn't to make money or treat it as a revenue stream. Just a lot of fun to create, adds a touch of professionalism, and one extra avenue for promotion.

Last year I bought a Peter Chao (pyrobooby) t-shirt. I didn't care whether he had 5 subscribers or 5 million. Just wanted a t-shirt because I liked his content.

For a revenue stream or any kind of relevance, sure, tens of thousands of subs makes way more sense. But no harm in creating merch before that if you want. :)

I agree from a sales perspective. I don't expect to sell anything. But I explained in my newest video why I did it. There was method to my madness.
I wouldn't mind it, but I HATE those tshirts with just your yt name and link on them with little or no design...it feels like you're a walking bilboard. which may be your goal, but I would rather something more stylish ;)

LOL To be technical, it's the logo from my blog header. Same difference. Still a walking billboard I guess. But a little better than just plain writing. And certainly no link included. Only got two orders so far, and both of them included one of those t-shirts. :)

Only $14, @Rouge. You should get one. I hear they come in a variety of colors and sizes. ;-)

I am thinking about doing it around 500-1k subs and just for something to do. Looks fun and it would be good practice on my design skills since I'am a soon to be graduate web designer and I just need to get this down solid.

I'am thinking about doing something like that, but we will see. :)

Well, having a merch link isn't going to scare away any viewers. So there's no harm. To all those saying they wouldn't until like 10k or 50k subs, it is always better to have product before you need product, than to have it after you need it. Since it doesn't hurt, and you could even make one or two sales at a smaller sub count, it's beneficial to have ready. It's more a return on time investment than anything when you're smaller.

As an aside, does anyone know a good place to get shirts made that has heavy collared short sleeve button up workshirt/bowlers that can be customized? I can't find them anywhere.

If you don't mind me asking, was it pretty expensive to have shirts with your logo on them made? I've been looking into making shirts for my podcast.
