Honestly, its good to avoid entertaining them. Possible, subscribers like them could be quite toxic for your community. Haha. Stick with your principles ~
I honestly was surprised though. I have a fairly plain face. I wanted to have a relationship with my fans and because I am still a small channel I wanted to basically respond to people who message me if I can but now I am not so sure about that. I might have to keep contact in other ways like competitions etc.
Don't let it get to you as it'll only increase as you grow. It's one of the downsides to becoming famous, however there's much more benfits and upsides to it in the end if you look at it long-term. Just block/ban anyone who's a troll or who's harassing you and engage with everyone else. I already have a long list of people banned from my channel and I remove any spam immediately. I try to keep the comments section clean and in the future when my channel's too large to handle, I might even hire people just to moderate the comments section and engaging with fans. There's certain niches out there that can inspire more trolling, but it's not too big once you change your mindset about the situation. I've gotten some weird messages before and to me it's just amusing really.
I would just do like avilsd said and keep interacting with people like you want to. Just block the negative / creepy ones when you feel necessary and curate your community like that. Any community online has to be curated / moderated to keep it from becoming a mess or just plain toxic, so keep that in mind as you make friends and manage your own community. Best of luck!
Unfortunately it is something the fairer sex faces more on YouTube. I have had a few terrible comments, usually about my bro and I and incest. Obviously a very immature individual. I don't think twice, I block them. But respond to all the good or neutral comments. Good luck.
