I spent 2 hours designing a gif banner only to get a message that says "use a valif file format such as png or jpeg. I'm pretty sure those files can't be animated.. does anyone know how to fix this?

You're not alone :/ I'm having the same issue. Which is sad because the gif banner I made is kind of epic

YouTube has disabled this feature for some reason. Now the following message appears like yours or says that file you try to upload does not match the allowed size. I was lucky to upload my new test animated banner but since then (now couple of weeks) can't apply new one or same one that exists on my channel.
Predictions are that they will enable this in time for all. And Hi to all, it's my first post!

That's cool that gifs can be used now but i personally wouldn't use it in my banner but if people can make their own and make them look nice and not like taking an acid trip then i think it could be a nice touch on youtube

I think that function is in, beta right now actually or something to that effect they're called notecards and i know some of the bigger youtubers have it right now like Phillip DeFranco
