But imo it's only because his looks professional, overall I do not agree with gifs being allowed and strongly wonder is it a bug.
If they are allowed now it will be flashing banners and all.

On a side note I do agree with shane, it could make youtube look tacky but if used properly it could really boost creativity and possibly give gfx artists more options for customers

Just tested it out but on phones and tablets it doesnt animate, it works fine on desktops but elsewhere it sticks on the first frame.

But remember with great gifs comes great responsibility. i.e don't make a gif just because you can make a gif
