Hello.
I know this is kinda a sad topic but im doing youtube for 5 months now and i did 27 videos so far but im still stuck at 40 subs eventhought on my last sfm videos i got about 200 views and nothing but likes and nice commends.
What really made me think that way ( of me begin a bad youtuber ) is the massive amount of people just begin like " I ve been youtuber for a month now and i have already 100 subs " and that kinda stuff.
If this belongs in the review part im sorry pls move it here but its less a review than anything else so please just leave it in this section.
Thanks for your answers in advance and have a nice day :D

I have been a gaming youtuber for a year now and i have 127 subs it takes time. Just be patient.

How many tags do you put on your videos? If you have good SEO then you will attract more viewers. At the end of your videos do you have links to watch more of your videos? If you don't people are less likely to feel you are an active channel and may not subscribe. Also do you have a subscribe button in your videos with a link to subscribe?

I'd also suggest annotations that pop up asking for people to subscribe or like your videos.

I've been doing youtube for 2 months, and I'm at 10 subs. Not worried about it though. I do programming tutorials, and I know that's not necessarily something that a ton of people want to watch. Getting subs takes time, especially nowadays when there's already so many established youtubers who've been doing it for so long, that overshadow everybody. Just keep making videos! :)

After a quick look at your channel I have a few suggestions:
- Some of your thumbnails aren't custom, they really need to be OUT THERE and represent your channel "brand"! Think of it like this; if there were 5 thumbnails all next to eachother and 1 of them were yours, how would YOUR audience know which was yours?
- Your banner sort of "begs" for subscribers, I know it sounds harsh but maybe have something a bit more targetted to your audience. When someone looks at your channel page you want them to think "OMFG THIS IS AMAZING", not "Oh he's telling me I have to subscribe to continue..."
- Your created playlists, have them going horizontal rather than verticle :)

Ask yourself what you want to achieve with Youtube. It's one thing making videos for your own pleasure, and something else entirely to make videos to get subs and views.
Im doing it for my own pleasure. I just saw some of those posts and it made me think...

I have nothing of the things you just said because i didnt have the time to really animate an outro or endcard

1. I didnt make thumbnails on some of the videos cuz i never EXPECTED them to gain views. Also im acutally trying to make a thumbnail onto every new video but some of the auto generated ones work really well.
2. My banner is just a replacement till i got up with something cool :D
3. Should i make a few like verticle and then the block playlists?

1.There are plenty of ways around animating an outro, simply coming up with a picture is what a few YTers do, like myself. Not trying to self promote here, but I can upload a copy of what my end screen looks like to give a basic example of what he means.
2. Your banner should be your 2nd top priority if you're just starting out, it shows people who are curious about your channel what you're all about. You want it to attract attention, but not in the needy desperate way, more like "I'm on an awesome journey and want to share it with you." if that makes any sense.
3. Horizontal is best, at least in many people's opinions. The reason for that is that it's easier to navigate for most people.

Side note. No you're not a bad youtuber because you have a low sub count. There are millions of people out there that pour their heart and soul and tons more work than most people into YT and never break 10k. A lack of effort is what makes a bad youtuber. If you're making vids for your own pleasure and nothing else then it's not an issue. But you're trying to achieve a goal like 500/1k/5k then it takes work for most people. Unless you get insanely lucky with that one video. Figure out what you want your brand to be, and try to design your channel around that. It may not seem like much, but it goes a long way.

(Not a big youtuber, but these are things that helped me get where I am currently.)

A lot of us here want to be successful. So because of that, we take the time to make time for a lot of the back-end things that need to be done with YouTube.

JMys is right here. Doing some background checking in adsense for the best words to tag about your subject can really help your videos. Go to the Keyword planner under Tools to get some ideas of what tags to create. If you don't have an adsense account, consider creating one.

Bottom line is, if you want to get more views and subs you should try and put some more time in to creating your Channel. Include custom thumbnails and research video editing and get to know your software (this will help your abilities speed up too if you are worried about time). These things will help your channel grow. If these are things you might not be able to do, then you will have to accept the growth rate of your channel.

I have less than 30 subscribers and my new channel is about 3 months old. I put time in and things are still slow, that is the nature of the beast. I don't let that discourage me, because like you I have fun making my videos =) Try not to be discouraged.

I honestly forgot about the keyword planner. I really need to start using that as well, thanks for the tip, even if it wasn't directed at me. lol.
