@Picture~Perfect

Your branding is simple yet solid and perfectly consistent. Well done with that! I have absolutely no further advice or suggestions relating to branding design.

Content wise what you need to do is work on your audio. I can tell you're using a headset mic as your audio peaks quite often and thus distorts quite a bit. If at all possible, save up some money and invest in a high quality condenser microphone to give you cleaner, more professional sounding audio.

Overall what you have now is quite impressive. Work on your audio and your channel should do fine. Best of luck!

Thank you for taking the time to look over my channel, I really appreciate it and thank you for the advice ;)

@Chill

Your channel header is nicely designed and it's good to see consistency across your entire brand. Well done with that!

The single biggest issue holding back your channel is your audio. It's terrible - you're using a low quality headset mic which peaks quite often and is allowing a noticable hum to creep into your recordings. You should definitely consider saving up some money and investing in a high quality condenser microphone and pop filter. It'll be a hell of a lot better than the mic you're using now and it will give your audio a cleaner sound.

That's pretty much it for advice. Work on your audio and your channel will grow.

@Meghan Alex

By lighting situation I take it you mean natural lighting (open windows)? Or are you referring to the amount of lights that you're able to use? In either situation, you should definitely consider investing in more lighting equipment. You can pick up a few LED lights for relatively cheap or if you're looking for a more warmer, orange tone then you should consider investing in tungsten lamps. At the moment your footage is extremely grainy/noisy and that's due to you increasing the ISO of your camera. The higher the ISO, the more noise you introduce into your footage. Having more lights will allow you to reduce the ISO and thus get a cleaner image.

What you will also need is to invest in an external shotgun microphone that you can mount onto your camera. Currently you're using the on-board microphone of your camera which sounds pretty poor. Having the shotgun microphone should help isolate your voice and knock out (as best as possible that is) the background noise of your room/air conditioner. Tie nice, clean, high quality audio to a clean image and suddenly your content will feel more professional to your potential viewers.

A final point you should consider working on is your editing. There are numerous points throughout your videos where you tend to drag out certain thoughts and it's that 'droning' that can put off potential viewers. For a channel like yours which proposes to create comedy type vlogs, having quick and snappy edits will help solidify that direction. I recommend checking out @darkstarmedia (channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkl3U62tqz-4SDxbqjn4G7A) for inspiration for your own channel as she's your direct competition. Watch her videos, take inspiration from her comedic timing and learn from her editing techniques and apply them to your own channel.

@Whatsthestory

I love the concept behind your channel but there are several issues preventing it from becoming popular, especially from an educational standpoint. Your branding is the first major issue. To be honest it looks really lazy and cheap - the logo was clearly designed in MSPaint and the thumbnail design of your first 20 videos is terrible.

Take inspiration from the image you're using as your channel header. Look at the colours and the thick black lines surrounding each country. Use the blue for the ocean as the basis for your brand going forward instead of the cyan you're currently using. For your logo, completely redesign it but keep the idea similar. For inspiration you can check out this website: https://logopond.com

For your 'Country Simularities Ep1 Flags' video you should definitely consider investing in a condenser microphone and pop filter. At the moment your audio is lacking quality. Furthermore your commentary needs a lot of work, especially if you want your channel to be considered a good educational resource. Read through your lines several times before recording, take a deep breath and slow down. Clarity is key here. I know it's hard if you're not used to doing voice overs but this is one aspect where you should definitely take your time and make it as perfect as you possibly can.

Finally, you should make your videos more exciting and engaging to watch. Right now it's no better than a PowerPoint presentation which isn't great for YouTube. Consider motion graphic text that is timed to your audio, such as these two examples:

Right now you have a great idea for your channel but your execution is lacking. Take your time with your videos to ensure they're engaging to watch and your channel will definitely grow.

@Beepinoy

One aspect that stands out is the lack of consistency with your branding. The thumbnails for videos 'Fishing', 'Kwebang Lampas', 'Going Home', 'Papa's Day' etc all share the same visual style which is also shared with your logo in the videos themselves. This visual style is not carried over into your avatar, channel header or your latest video thumbnails. I understand that each thumbnail design is for each show/playlist on your channel but you should still think about keeping a consistent visual element; perhaps having your logo in one of the corners of your thumbnails.

Your video quality is pretty slick but your audio needs a lot of work. It's clear you're both using the on camera microphone which, while convenient, isn't high quality and allows for a lot of background noise to seep into your recordings. If at all possible, save up some money and invest in either a shotgun microphone for your camera or a lavalier/lapel microphone for both of you individually. Another aspect to your audio I should mention is that it's mixed quite loud. Turn down the volume slightly so that it doesn't peak (go into the red).

Overall the editing is spot on and the video quality is great. All you need to do is keep your channel branding consistent and work on your audio. Your channel definitely has potential so keep going!

@JoubleDumpers

You've got a consistent brand - logo, channel header and thumbnails all share the same design elements. Overall your branding is spot on so well done!

Content wise I see a lot of potential. I commend all involved for capturing footage from all perspectives; I know how much of an editing nightmare it can be. It's worth it though considering your videos are far more entertaining to watch compared to your competition.

The only major issue I can see is the audio. Headset microphones simply won't cut it anymore. It's cheap and convenient but everyone, if at all possible, needs to save up some cash and invest in proper condenser microphones and pop filters. It'll also mean you all need to capture audio seperately as I don't think you can connect a condenser microphone into the PS4, although I could be wrong on that. It'll take more effort from all involved but it's definitely worth it.

Your channel is doing quite well for 3 weeks worth of work and I know it'll only get better from here. Everything apart from your audio is absolutely rock solid. Going forward, work on your audio and I know your channel will succeed. Good luck!

woah thank you for the suggestion :) I would try to make them consistent i meant the thumbnails :) thank you for the suggestion :)

Thanks so much for your feedback! Only two of us have decent mics atm so we know it's lagging us behind! I recently bought a snowball mic which works with the ps4 and actually has really good audio. I think we all need to buy one!

@Christoverse

Good to see you back in this thread and still making content on YouTube!

I don't really have much more advice for you since you've definitely improved since the last time I looked at your channel. I do want to point out that with your final episode of your 'Layers of Fear' playthrough, I can still hear an audible humming sound, quite possibly your air conditioner.

Overall keep it up man!

@JayVee

Your channel branding in terms of your avatar, channel header and logo design are rock solid, although when I look at it I get the impression you're an automotive enthusiast and your channel is about cars. It might be due to the carbon fibre style pattern in the background and the car-branded style logo. How you want to proceed is entirely up to you but I recommend you redesign your logo so it suits the content of your channel.

Assuming you keep the logo and the overall colour scheme (black/orange or grey/orange), it's a shame you don't incorporate any of those elements into your thumbnails. All I can see are simple screenshots or promotional art with slapped on text and meme images. There's absolutely nothing unique about your thumbnails and if I were to stare at the 'Recommended/Suggested Video' section at the end of the video, I honestly couldn't tell your content apart from the rest of the content creators on YouTube.

A few tips - find yourself a unique font/typeface that you feel best represents you and your brand, incorporate that text as headings into your thumbnails, apply your colour scheme to the text and make sure that the text is completely horizontal and not on a diagonal rotation. Throw in your logo in one of the corners for good measure and you should be good to go.

In terms of your content, I recommend saving up some money and investing in a high quality condenser microphone and a pop filter. I can hear a lot of humming in the background of your videos (either a fan or air conditioner) and there are times where you peak the audio because your headset mic is too close to your mouth (plosives - Bs, Ps, hard consonant sounds). Having a condenser microphone with a pop filter will give your audio a more clean and professional sound. When recording, record a room sample/room noise (press record, don't talk, just let the mic pick up the natural sounds of the room for 10 seconds) and use that as a sample to remove those sounds and frequencies from your main recording.

It's a nice touch that you've put additional background music into your videos although you should make sure that you avoid using copywritten music. Services like AudioJungle or MusicBed are great resources to license music although their prices might be too high (Music Bed moreso than AudioJungle). Failing that, ask a few music artists on YouTube or SoundCloud and ask permission to use their tracks in your audio. You get to use cool music and the artist gets more promotion for their talent.

I'm pretty impressed with what you've got so far. Work on the issues I've mentioned and your channel is sure to grow. Good luck and have fun!

@Chris M

Orange and black as your colour scheme (with orange being more prominent) looks nice. Your channel header is simple but effective, however it's not consistent with your avatar or your thumbnails. You should make sure to have the same font/typeface and colour across the board.

Your thumbnail design quite frankly is absolutely terrible, your "WynnCraft" series especially. Yellow and green gradient, red text and a logo without the white background being removed looks incredibly lazy and cheap. Your 'Stardew Valley Let's Play' series doesn't fare any better, as you've got a simple screenshot/promotional shot with hard to read red text denoting what episode it is.

My suggestion - make a pixellated triangle in both the top right hand corner and the bottom left hand corner of your thumbnails. In the top, put a 'SP' logo and in the bottom put the episode number (#1, #2 etc) with both being written in the same font/typeface. Even if you just use promotional images or screenshots, having those design elements will ensure that potential viewers know the content belongs to your channel and that your thumbnails are consistent with the rest of your brand.

For your content you definitely need a pop filter, as I can hear a lot of plosives being audible in your recording (hard consonant sounds like Bs, Ps, Ks etc). Other than that your audio is pretty darn clear.

All you reall need to work on is your branding and thumbnail design. Nail them and your channel should grow.

@Spooncer

I've got no real complaints or suggestions for your avatar and channel header as both are well designed. In terms of thumbnail design, while there is effort put into them and you've done your best to differentiate between each series ('Rainbow Six Seige, CS:GO etc) they aren't all that unique. Try to avoid gradients, and removing the background and shadow from your avatar and placing the spoon into your thumbnails will help solidify your branding.

A final point to your branding - your logo sting and end card use a different font/typeface to your channel header. Redesign them so that everything remains consistent.

In terms of content your videos are extremely well edited and entertaining to watch. The only aspect really holding you back is your audio. While your voice is relatively clear for the most part it does tend to peak whenever you scream, raise your voice or breathe. From what I can hear, you're using a headset microphone with the mic quite close to your mouth. Investing in a condenser microphone and pop filter will help out immensely, although you still need to mix your audio volume so that it doesn't peak (hit the red zone).

Other than that you've got potential. Work on what I've suggested and keep a regular upload schedule. Good luck!

Thanks man! I will definitely look into that! With school being over now, I have a bit more time to work on my channel and make things look alot better. The issue with the microphone is that it's a headset, I am not sure how difficult it would be for me to get a pop filter on that, but I can probably try to make some homemade solution. Thumbnails have definitely been an issue. I really like your idea for that! Though I am looking at changing my name to Scarfy just because I feel that fits me alot better, and allows me to really do more with the channel. Thanks again for the suggestions!
