Hey man saw you were doing reviews and that's exactly what i need. I've always been into gaming but have been getting out of it more recently and getting into vlogs. Some review would be appreciated :)

Greetings everyone! Although I am new to YTTalk I'll be more than happy to check out any of your channels and offer my advice and honest critiques about them. A fresh pair of eyes just might be what your channel needs.

There are no stirct guidelines. Your channel can be about anything, target any demographic and be of any size. I'll offer my constructive criticisms regarding content, branding, art or technical issues.

Shall we begin?
I just started my channel today so I would love an opinion on our first video!

Thankyou so so much!! Your feedback really helped me see what needed improving and I can now see why you put what you did. I agree with what you said about my thumbnails and banner, I have the capabilities of doing better so I will try and improve that for future videos.

With what you said about my audio I can really agree with. I am currently using a Point & Shoot rather than a DSLR so adding a microphone is a difficult process. I think it is just up to me speaking much louder, as the music volume is the lowest I can get it. What I might have to do is just remove the background music on normal videos until Christmas time when I buy a Canon 70D, along with a microphone.

I have also added a channel trailer which I cannot believe I missed as I usually put that in (in my older channels) so thankyou for pointing that out!
I upload every Saturday so with all your feedback I will try to add your improvements to my future videos.
Again, thankyou!

If you're moving into vlogs it's important that the channel reflects you the most. At the moment, having a nice photo of a pier-front festival (maybe?) as a channel header and a photo of a sting ray for your avatar doesn't tell me anything about you. Think about incorporating photos of yourself as the basis of your branding so viewers know when visiting your channel that it's a vlog channel all about you.

Content wise you should think about investing in a higher quality video camera or DSLR camera for nicer shots. At the moment you've got everything set to auto so the camera is constantly adjusting for brightness and focus. You should also think about saving up and investing in a shotgun microphone for your camera for cleaner audio. Again it's a vlog channel so it's important that your vocals are clean and your visuals are as high quality as you can afford for the time being.

To help give better visuals you should also think about additional lighting set ups. Setting the ISO higher on a camera will introduce more noise into the footage which is terrible. Having more lights allows you to select a lower ISO setting and thus gives cleaner, more professional images. They don't have to be professional lighting rigs, just any kind of lamps, LED lights etc to brighten up the room you're recording in. If it looks like you have enough light, add more light.

I admit these suggestions are quite pricey and might not be feasible as this time, however they're important to keep in mind for making your channel better over time. Keep a regular upload schedule and you should be good to go. Good luck!

@Moses Cheeks

Definitely not but I can't complain. I get to see awesome channels, incredible content (which, as someone aspiring to be a future network is great for scouting :P) and most important of all, I get to help to try and improve everyones' channels as best as possible. It's taken a lot of time out of what I do but I enjoy it immensely.

For your channel, at the moment your camera set up is a bit flakey. In most of the videos I've viewed you're completely out of focus and in others, you start off in focus, move away from the camera causing the camera to auto adjust, then move back in frame causing you to be out of focus. Never, ever set your camera to auto anything. Set everything manually to give a more professional look to your videos.

You should also think about getting more lights, just like I made the suggestion above. Adding more lights to your shot will help your camera remove the ugly noise that persists in most of your videos. You can never have enough light.

On the audio front you should consider saving up and investing in a shotgun microphone for your camera or a lavalier/lapel mic that you can wear to give you cleaner audio. At the moment you're using your on camera audio which, while servicable, is not professional sounding at all.

Finally, you need to work on your brand. In your latest video "CRAZY ANNOUNCEMENT," you state you're going to be moving into dance and song covers. At the moment your brand doesn't reflect that at all, especially with the cheap looking thumbnails. Choose a font/typeface that not only you personally enjoy but one that reflects you the most. Also think about colours that best represent you. Use these two elements in your future logos, thumbnail designs and everything to do with your branding.

You're not doing too bad for a years' worth of work and I know if you work on the issues I've pointed out, your channel will grow even further. Have fun and good luck!

@Happy Hour

It's a pretty solid start to your channel. You've got a nice, simple branding with a great typedface, a nice logo and excellent colours. The logo in your channel header is not centred which is the first thing I've noticed but it's incredibly simple to rectify. It's a shame that the logo, typeface or colours aren't being used in your thumbnails for that added consistency. For future thumbnails, think about adding in the logo in one of the corners or use the same text styling for the title of the video in the thumbnail.

Content wise it was entertaining and edited quite well given the nature of the video. For the future of your channel, think about saving up and investing in a shotgun microphone or better yet, lavalier/lapel mics for each person so you eliminate the background noise of your kitchen and give cleaner vocal audio. You should also mix your audio in post to make sure your audio doesn't peak and that there isn't a drastic difference in volume between music and your vocals. One last point, try your best to avoid copy written music as you don't want strikes tanking your channel when it's just getting off the ground.

Excellent work overall ! Keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback :) Yeah I plan on getting a nice camera and external microphone once I have some more money. At the moment I'm just recording with my phone.

@Caleb "Caza" Wright

If you want your channel to be a personal storage space for home videos or small snippets of experimental videos then continue doing what you're doing. If you're planning to make a career out of YouTube then you need a hell of a lot of work to get started.

At the moment there's no cohesiveness on your channel at all. You have a drawing for your avatar, a stock photo as your channel header and your thumbnails are nothing more than screenshots from the videos themselves. You need to start thinking about branding - what combination of colours are you going to use, what font/typeface best represents you, what would you like as a logo, how do you want your thumbnails designed and so on.

What you should be doing is looking at the branding of some of your favourite content creators on YouTube. Start to get some ideas on how you should proceed with your own channel. Furthermore you should start looking around online for some inspiration. A good place to start is here: https://logopond.com/

On top of that, you should be thinking about how you want to proceed with your channel in terms of content. Are you a vlogs channel? Do you do Let's Plays? Are you producing critical content? The direction of your channel will ultimately help steer you in the right direction with your branding. Everything has to be cohesive and unified. There's no point having a brand that gives the impression of a travel vlog when you're producing Let's Play video game content, for example.

Once you've got a rough idea on your content and your brand, start creating concepts for the brand and if you can't do it yourself, ask around here on YTTalk. There are plenty of designers willing to advise and guide you in the right direction and perhaps some of them will create your brand for you.

If you're going to take YouTube seriously then you need to start putting your head down and dedicating time out of your day in order to achieve that goal. To quote a cereal advertisement of all things - you only get out what you put in.

@Sir_Reyz

I started off with your earlier videos and was going to make a comment about your audio quality but I'm glad to see you're now using a professional condenser microphone with pop filter. It's great to see and hear how much you have improved in over a year and the more you keep doing it, the better you'll get.

One thing I have noticed is that for your introduction, you want to say your lines a lot louder than you do but I'm assuming due to others residing in the house, you can't do that. What you end up doing, which is a technique I've seen a lot of amateur content creators and voice actors do, is whisper very loudly in an attempt to give off the impression of you yelling. Word of advice - it never works. If you're going to yell, yell. Anything less just sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Branding wise you're lacking a lot of consistency and cohesiveness. Your channel header uses one design, your logo sting uses another and your thumbnail designs are all over the place. On the topic of thumbnails I will mention this - it's good to see you using photos of yourself for a majority of your Let's Play content. It's the only consistent part of your brand.

I like your logo sting so think about using that design, colour scheme and typeface as the basis of your entire brand going forward. Use it in your avatar, channel header and try your best to incorporate the colours and typeface into the thumbnails. It'll help your channel give you a nice cohesive branding and a sense of professionalism.

After a year of work you're definitely doing well. Work on the issues I've raised and you're good to go. Good luck with your channel!

Hey, i'd love some feedback on my channel and suggestions, i only recently started up and getting back into the flow since College Work had been difficult. I purchased a microphone which is arriving tommorow along with a pop-filter so i'll be recording PC again. My link is below:
