All Gaming CHannels are the same-I get it now

I'm sure plenty of people are doing something different, but when the majority of folks are interested in certain games... that is what you are more likely to see being played.

Well I guess until game creators actually produce a well balanced game that everyone loves to play, we might see a shift in popularity. I'm trying the horror section of gaming, but I think I missed the wave for popularity. :(

I don't play any of those games on my gaming channel. I do The Sims (3 & 4), SimCity, WoW, Diablo III, Aion, Need for Speed, and I even throw in some retro games here and there.
I wasnt trying to insult anyone its just it always annoyed me when people said all gaming channels are the same , but now I see why its cod gta, minecraft and GMod not everoyne does it just alot do it for the fame.

I wasn't insulted, just pointing out that not *all* channels have COD, GTA, Minecroft or GMOD on them ;)

I think that is definitely the easiest way to grow quickly. As a channel that is trying to appeal to older gamers (mid-20's+) I have realized that kids dominate YouTube's audience. It's very difficult for a Let's Play channel marketing to the audience that we do to grow because our audience has better things to do than watch YouTube all the time I think. I dunno. Just my $0.02.

I cater to the older gamers (24-30) and it is a slow uphill battle since my feature game is Doom.

You definitely solved it!

If you feel that the older audience won't watch you, then why not appeal to kids?
Nothing wrong by adjusting what you do in order to appeal to kids.

However, they are not as knowledgeable as the teens and/or adults, as kids tend to watch videos on vague search terms (COD, Minecraft funny, etc.), whilst the older audience will search something like "How to... in Minecraft"

Most of the reason we created our channel was to play through games we hadn't gotten a chance to so we're really not doing it for money/fame. If I were trying to get super famous and be a YouTube celeb I would definitely change up our strategy. But for now we are just having fun and that is A-OK with me. :)

Never got into those kinds of games tbh. My girlfriend plays Minecraft but there's only so much one can do with the console version. My channel deals mostly with fighting games and retro beat-em-ups and similar things.

And those are the kind of games I don't watch. :P (Except for Minecraft, because one of the first channels I subscribed to plays that, but I don't watch anyone else play Minecraft.)

I'd rather watch games with a story than to watch a soccer game, or just a random COD match (which I don't understand the appeal to watch someone else play, it's better to play it yourself.)
gmod seems to be used for trolling and stuff, which I don't find appealing at all.
