Ads or No Ads?

I've Got It
I'm just posting a quick article stating my opinion on advertisements and asking others to post theirs. This isn't a debate on whether or not ads should be on YouTube, but rather if Ads benefit small channels. I personally think they do to an extent and should be enabled but only the advertisements that appear on the side of videos not the In-Stream ones. Monetization enables the user to use custom thumbnails and countless other features but the in-stream ads the play before videos can decrease viewership, as the view isn't registered until the actual video is played for a few seconds. Also people could get distracted or leave or not be willing to invest a couple seconds waiting for a video they're watching on a wim. Small channels should also definitely not trying to be making as much money as possible from the start, as it is not the correct way to start off YouTube in my opinion.

I agree, I only turn on banner ads on my more popular videos, otherwise I tend to not monetize. Some people actually click away as soon as the ad plays and my videos could use the exposure.

Ya I agree with you for the most part, don't start monetizing right out of the gate. One thing I do say though is if they can't invest 5-15 seconds waiting they don't want to watch the video that bad.

Personally, I would leave the ads off a video unless it has at least over like 300 views. When people see an ad running most people will immediately click away and give no thought to your channel whatsoever. Just my opinion though.

I agree with you 100%. It is more important to build an audience so do whatever you have to do in order to get them to stick around. If that means losing the opportunity to earn a few pennies, let them go. They are just pennies.

When I first started Youtube, I monotized a couple of videos...but I haven't in months and months lol.

i started uploading with out the ads now bcuz you guys are right its better to make a steady audience first

I feel the same way. I know this isn't true in most cases, but when I see a small channel with advertisments so early on it really makes me think if they are just in it for the money. You pointed out aswell that some people do it for the option of thumbnails, but to be honest most of the time small channel's thumbnails looks uproffesional. I don't want to sound like a downer but small channels should stay away from ads until they are ready
