A sub for sub that makes a difference

There's a system in Fullscreen on what they call "promoting".

This is how it works:
There's a timeline of videos for you to watch.
Click on any video and you'll watch it.
If you decide to "promote" it, you will then like the video and subscribe to their channel automatically.

The more your promote, the higher your points rack up. The higher your points, the more likely it is for people to see YOUR video on that timeline.

However, this system is abused, as people often unsubscribe immediately once they grab the points (thus promotion for themselves/selfish promotion).

Your model or concept of "sub4sub" could actually work, if people actually did that.

It's not an easy system, but it does attract people who want to watch quality content and want to breed fans instead of numbers. I would take 100 loyal viewers over 1000 subs who don't even watch my stuff.

It still feels like a "what's in it for me" system. I like finding new youtubers to follow and interact with and if i am only watching their videos because i hope to get more subs I feel like it will be easily abused. What kind of viewer does that create? Someone who just subs so they get subs or someone who wants to be part of something and become a true fan or get true fans.

Certainly better than the regular sub4sub, but I think people can figure out pretty quickly whether they like someone's content or not, so if something wasn't my cup of tea I wouldn't want to sit through 4 more videos and force myself to comment - positively, I assume, or just "Um, that was... a video."?

Good point, but I always try to do more than one video because everyone has made bad videos and I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Well, maybe if you delay the reward somehow it will make people less likely to unsubscribe instantly and maybe there is a way to check someones subs for that channel like a few days or weeks down the road to see if they unsubscribed.

The main thing is you need to come at it from a point of view where you are helping people by giving them quality comments, views and subs. Anything that focuses too much on the "whats in it for me" mentality will make people abuse the system and not even care what they are watching or subscribing to because it's only points to them.

I wanted to start a system, but there is no way to regulate it.
I proposed everyone make a trailer video of 1-2mins or so and put it under creative commons (so other people can upload it to their channel)
In this system you put the previous persons trailer on your channel with the promise the next person will do the same for you. You can do it as often as you want, but you don't want to have 50 shout out trailers on your channel maybe instead once or twice a week.
Of course this helps smaller channels out more than larger ones.
Just an idea I was thinking of before, but it's too reliant on the honor system without set regulation.

This is actually perfect. f*****g perfect, in fact.

People in Fullscreen complained about the system but no one seems to make a solution.

Personally, I don't really use the "promoting" system in Fullscreen as much, nor do I heavily rely on it.
