1080p Is It Worth It?

Well I usually just upload in 720p but the new screen recorder I got (Screenflow)
has great compressing features and can upload 1080p videos 4x faster than my old screen recorder ( Quicktime & IMovies ).So it depends on how your PC can hold it but for some games ( like crisis and skyrim) 1080p just helps to show how good they look.

Also when I watch videos I love going full screen 1080p ( 21" screen) my internet can't always manage 1080p but it looks great :/ but usually I watch 360p

The quality difference between 720p and 1080p is of no value when left in the standard YouTube window size. It's value only occurs when the video is maximized.
That said, every video I do is 1080p. For a few reasons. I like providing a better option. Eventually people will have better internet connections and my older videos will still be there. I don't enjoy playing in 720p when my computer can easily handle 1080p. And it doesn't take my machine a ridiculous amount of time to render anyways.

All good points. thanks for you thoughts! I like the point about sometime in the future your 1080p vids will still be there, and you're right, they'll probably be a lot more common to watch as peoples bandwidth goes up.

it matters if I'm watching the video in fullscreen. I have a 1920x1080 screen so if i put 720p into fullscreen it's a little pixelated.. but honestly I don't render my videos in 1080 mainly because I only record at 720p :) and my xbox videos are recorded at 1080p.. but xbox games are upscaled from 1280x720 to 1920x1080 when you play at 1080p anyways so it doesn't make any difference to xbox gameplay if its 720p or 1080 :)

hope you understood that, I kind of just put it how I was thinking it in my head...

I guess that's the other thing. I suggest to anyone I talk to about this to record in 1080p if you can. Even if you don't render that high. You can always downscale without loss of quality. This does not with in the reverse.

No it is not. Youtube converts all 1080p videos to 720p. They haven't upgraded the site for it yet. It just increases your upload time for no reason

....What? You've never watched a 1080p video on YT? /facepalm

Again, please stop spreading misinformation. Research things before you talk about them. Not only does YT have 1080p, they have 4k resolution, and even eyefinity resolution.

You can click 1080p, but it's the same as 720p
