Why did Youtube stop offering FULL partnerships ?

Now you HAVE to join an network like Maker or TGN if u want FULL partner features , i have one of my channels partnered with youtube (itself , before they stopped giving branding) & my other channel is partnered with Maker Studios (RPM)[I was to late to partner with youtube itself]. Now anyone who applies for the youtube partner program gets custom thumbnails & is able to monotize their videos & is a "YT Partner". Why has youtube changed / stopped giving full partnerships ???

They haven't stopped anything. They merely got rid of the traditional feature you use to get as a YouTube Partner and allowed everyone to opt in back in April last year. The real perk of becoming a partner is to monetize your original content not to get some fancy features that get retired in almost every new layout anyway.

What extra features to the Network Partnered channels even get that normal YT Partners (pretty much everyone) now get?

After Maker studios was developed networks began popping up, so YouTube backed down and made it so you have to go with a network to get custom branding and support. YouTube is focusing on YouTube and allowing networks to do the rest.

Now that YouTube offers monetization to everyone they aren't losing any money and have less work to maintain. It seems like a logical business move to me.

More videos monetized = more cash for YouTube. If folks partner with networks instead of YT, YT doesn't have to do as much support. And there is one more hurdle in case of legal disputes. If anyone wants to sue YouTube over a violation of a partner they get to point their finger at the network.

Deciding to go with a network gives you a lot more features than simply partnering with YouTube. Although the new layout is eliminating branding features, networks still have much to offer. You get real time support, you get promotion, you get networking opportunities, and you have no hastle monetizing your videos. With youtube your alone, with a network you have a partner... hints the term partnership.[DOUBLEPOST=1368906299,1368905775][/DOUBLEPOST]

I did not think of the legal dispute side of things. Thank you for pointing that out! That makes a lot of sense.

This is the best answer in this thread.

I will add that various 'partner features' (banner, custom thumbnails, scheduled uploading, etc, etc) are all features that automatically are given to ad sense partnered channels after a specific amount of time with no strikes/issues. So really it isn't about the 'features' as much about protecting content, potentially monetizing more/alternatively, and building a relationship.

Sadly most networks fail at all three of these points... queue my signature:
