Where have the days gone when......?

What I find hilarious is that if youtube still did partnerships the way it used to, people would be complaining that it's too elitist and 'small' youtubers are being given no chance.

Oh wait, people already say those things. Youtube had to grow this way because of the amount of content creators now.

There are still fair amount of Networks with high requirements where you have to earn partnership to get there.
Agreed, there sure is. That means its an achievement to make it to one of these bigger networks but its not an achievement any more to be classed as a YouTube partner in general.

What's with the elitist attitude? You've been a partner for 2 years at most, and by then it was already infinitely easier to become a partner compared to those that came before you. By the time your channel was created, the old system was already on its way out and there was a huge influx of new partners. The flood gates were already starting to open and you just got in with the other many thousands of other partners. I don't see the "achievement" in that.

Back when getting partnered was a big deal, partnership still only meant you could monetize your video and nothing else. Big woop. Do you know what you get today as a big YouTuber or an up-and-comer? They get special privileges like access to YouTube Space where you can do things like attend workshops to learn how to improve your videos and promote your channel, collab with other creators, or even use production space and camera equipment you otherwise wouldn't be able to afford.

If you're a newer channel and Google likes what you do, you can get invited to their NextUp Creator Camp at YouTube Spaces around the world. YouTube NextUp is an exclusive development and funding programme for up-and-coming YouTube Partners. They get extra special treatment and they promote your stuff. That sounds like a better deal than restricting the regular partner program so people like you can feel special.

If you're such a special snowflake, why don't you have access to YouTube Spaces? Why weren't you invited to NextUp? Why weren't you in YouTube Rewind? Why do you deserve to monetize videos any more than anyone else? Where are your "big/growing stats"? You have 5k views a day and 2 million total. Other people get 2 million in a matter of days. Maybe you should get on their level before you ask to "feel unique again."
