When you feel like you'll never get any subs

Drugs, alcohol and other acts of self medicating debauchery.

But when I was doing that, I looked for feedback from trusted sources and rode that wave

I try to keep subscribers and content as far away from each other in my mind as I can, because if I spend more time worrying about the number of subscribers I'm getting, I'll lose all the joy in making videos. I think a lot of YouTube has become incredibly wrapped up in trying to grow more than trying to express ourselves, and I find that to be a huge shame, because being yourself in a video format where you can send other people to see it is such a cool concept and one that didn't exist even as early as 20 years ago, so I'd say to fend off discouragement, make videos that make you happy as you're making them.

Hey everyone so I've not been on you tube long, but I didn't realize how hard it was to get my channel noticed. When you first started your channel what do you do about your discouragement?
Its not going to happen overnight, maybe not even for a few years, but if you do all the right things, you get moving.
Take into account everything ALL the advice this forum gives, and advice from other sources, if you just sit back waiting for views and stuff, its not going to happen, put in work not just on videos, but also editing, SEO, communications, networking, helping others grow, most of all keep at it, dont ever get lazy and so on.

I completely agree. Had to reset my computer because it got a virus . Minor set back but it's ok as long as I'm still plugging away at it. Thanks for the encouragement .[DOUBLEPOST=1469127698,1469127619][/DOUBLEPOST]

i agree. The question to ask myself is what do I want my channel to really look like?! What kind of feel do I want it to have ? ! Thanks for thE encouragement

I get frustrated at times because I do want others to see my videos. I just keep promoting myself on my twitter and I also find other small youtubers that post things relevant to me and just talk to them. I've already gotten at least one girl that has me in her featured channels section on her page and I feel that helped me a bit. I'd say keep posting and talk with other YouTubers and eventually you'll get a nice traffic of people. I saw you asked about video editing software. I know its not completely free but the one I use is Wondershare Filmora. I'm not very good at editing, but their program is super easy to use and great for the content I make. I did the free trial but it had a huge watermark in the back if you try to upload that video. I ended up getting the year license and it was $30. To get the lifetime license is $50 so its not too terrible.

Hey Hollysaurus. I know what you mean, when I first stared I would be checking my channel every day to see how many subscribers I had. Now I just focus on enjoying the process of creating my own content. I love the freedom I have with my channel from everything to banners and thumbnails to editing tricks and filming setup. I have spent time focusing more on that than on getting subscribers. I am still at a low subscriber count but now I really enjoy making videos and so will continue to make them even if I don't get big!

I hope that helps! :)

Hey girl!
Thank you for the encouragement! You are completely correct! It's all about how I feel about my work and if it is fun for me! Thanks so much ❤️

Girl, I'm 4 months in and I just got to 10 subs, so my best advice is to just keep at it if you like it, and then look up how to make your videos more noticeable and better quality.

I've struggled with this too. I'm at a year with only 70 subs. You have to look hard at yourself and ask if you're putting in enough effort and time to really make it worth OTHER peoples time. If you like your own content then other people will eventually come around to like it too. You have to remember, subs aren't everything. If you're getting good views, then that's what really matters. With good views come good subs.

I recently started to do an overhaul on my channel because I realized (with a nice kick in the a** from another member on these forums) that the content I was pushing out just wasn't up to the quality it should be if I ever expect something to happen. So I've started to put WAY more time into my videos, to actually make good thumbnails, do up my audio, and to do better edits. I've been getting more views and I've even gained 2 or 3 subs since then. Yeah, maybe those numbers aren't great; but they're a start. It's insane how much more in love with your channel you'll become if you put true effort into it. I say true effort, because before I thought I was putting in effort but really there was A LOT more I could do.

If you already are putting in true effort and you enjoy your own videos, then just give it time. People will come, people will watch, and people will subscribe. The biggest pain about YT is the wait, you have to wait for people to find you. Sure promoting can help, but the wait is what matters most.

One of the best ways I've found recently to keep from getting discouraged is ask yourself this: What's your purpose on YouTube? Do you want to entertain? Do you want to show people sick makeup tutorials? (I can't see your channel so I don't know what it's about) Whenever I start feeling groggy with my channel, I just remind myself why I'm doing it. Sure, making it a career is a goal, making a livable income is a goal, but what are goals without a purpose for those goals? Think about your purpose, and you'll have the motivation to carry on.

Yeah I love Doomkey's enthusiasm and the way he takes everything as a learning and growing experience. Not a lot of people do that and thus why people don't usually get far but if you take Doomkey's advice you'll make it far and he will too. Then we can all gather back on this YT forum and discuss how it was to have like 100 subscribers now we have like 1 million!!!! TO THE FUTURE. Lol
