I work on my laptop for the most part.
It has

CPU: Intel I7-2640 2.80GHZ
Motherboard: Whatever it came with lol
HDD: 260 gig Solid State Drive and 2 TB external drives.
RAM: 8 Gigs of DDR3 Ram
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GT 555M

I'm building a new editing rig though so i'll post an update when that gets built.

To be honest with you, I would go as far as saying 6GB is fine for the next few years. 16GB is far overkill I have never seen use above 5GB so that says it all![DOUBLEPOST=1358688474,1358688397][/DOUBLEPOST]

That's a little too old, I would say a 400 serious Nvida card would suit you will, cheap as chips right now!

16GB is absolutely not overkill. On my old editing rig I maxed my 16 gigs on a daily basis. I am actually having to get 32 for my new rig that I am building to make sure it doesn't get maxed. Now if your just playing games and using basic editing software then sure 8 gigs will do. But if you get into vfx work you need as much as you can afford.

CPU: Intel I7-920 2.67GHZ
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X58
HDD: 1. 60GB SSD that holds my Windows installation and drivers. 2. 1TB HDD that hold programs, games, etc. 3. 3TB HDD that I use for recording, editing, rendering.
RAM: 6 Gigs of DDR3 Ram
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

The RAM is slowly starting to need upgrading, but is far from a noticeable bottleneck in my system at the moment. I run a stock overclock on the CPU to make editing and rendering a little faster.

Any Other comments: I don't have the patience to build my own system from scratch so I bought an HP Pavillion (H8-1070t) that came with an i7, and then over time upgraded various components (primarily the PSU, GPU, and RAM).
